With All The Talk of Fast and Furious

You have to be pretty stupid to write a post that talks about the BATFE tracking gun-runners into Mexico.

Yeah the ATF knew about these runners….they SOLD them the guns, and swiped the FBI’s credit card to do it!

Shotgun Rack

A frequent thing you read on the gun blogs and similar publications is that the sound of a shell being chambered into a shotgun will cause unavoidable fear. Its bullshit, just take your pump-gun to the range and see how many people run when you pipe that first round.

Still another thing we say is “The loudest sound is a “click” when we were expecing a “bang””. I think the shotgun rack follows this principle.

she says when the men ignored her barking pit bull and black lab, and broke through a kitchen door, she had no other choice but to chamber a round into the 12-gauge shotgun.

There’s perhaps no other sound that commands as much respect and fear. The young woman at the business end of that gun was home alone and prepared to protect herself.

It was a broad-daylight robbery that started with the robbers ringing the doorbell. The woman was home sick so she didn’t answer the door. Thinking nobody was home they broke in….finding out they were wrong and the woman at home had a shotgun they ran.

I betcha the shotgun rack was louder than the dogs barking or the door breaking because they didn’t expect that. If they DO expect a shotgun…best be prepared for them to not hear anything else…ever.

Oh and because you folks tolerate my abortion stance I must add this:

It’s the last thing two burglary suspects expected to hear when they broke into a Coon Rapids home. From within the house came the unmistakable sound of a pump shotgun. At the other end of that gun was a 22-year-old woman who is nine weeks pregnant.

That means she’s at the end of her fist trimester, which is that magical window where the thing in her belly goes from a “Lump of cells” that can be removed with as little concern as deciding to get a tummy tuck or any other cosmetic surgery, to a kinda-sorta-person (But they’d rather not discuss this at this point).

Why did the newspaper find it relevant that this 1st Trimester mother-to-be was indeed with child?

BTW already she sounds like she’s going to be a first-rate mother. Best wishes to her and her family!

The Vz 58

Watched this neat video last night

The Vz-58 rifle is such an odd duck. At first glance it can quickly be mistaken for an AK-47. It also fires the same 7.62×39 round from the ubiquitous 30-round banana-shaped magazine.

Still besides looks, the gun is very different. Its striker-fired. It uses a locking breech block similar to an SKS or an FAL, rather than the rotating bolt of the AK, while the mags look similar they are alloy and unique to the ’58, also the Vz-58 has a bolt-hold-open like most modern military rifles do.

What I find so interesting was how many changes they made from the AK pattern and still how wrong the rifle came out. The safety is better…but still ergonomically lame, and just watch Hickok futz with those magazines. Yeah it doesn’t us an AK mag, but you still need to wiggle them around to rock them into place.

Still I think they’re kinda cool.

Plain Old Neat!

Seen on Linoge’s Soldier’s Angels fundraiser page:

1x Crimson Trace Corporation Glock Generation 4 LaserGrip, courtesy of CTC. Want something that is not even on the market yet? Donate to Soldiers’ Angels, and you could win it at the beginning of next year. This LaserGrip is just like all of its kin, except that it is designed specifically to be mounted on the newest Generation of Glock handguns, of all various sizes.

How cool is that? Crimson Trace has donated an item that isn’t even available on the market yet. Good on Crimson Trace, good on Linoge, good on you if you decide to drop some cash into the pot. Its for a good cause.

JD Was Right

Mumbles Flinched

A midnight deadline passed on Thursday for Occupy Boston protesters to move from their encampment in the city’s financial district, but police did not evict them…As midnight approached, Occupy Boston members began organizing those demonstrators willing to be arrested, telling them to stay in the encampment and link arms. But the police made no arrests and did not remove any tents.

Shameful. And JD called it dead on!

Do you really think Menino can do it? I don’t think he has the guts to go beyone saying to them “GO HOME NOW or I will say GO HOME again!”

Great Film

I’m a huge fan of Raymond Chandler, and the classic (and modern iterations) film Noir. I hadn’t seen this film since it was in the theater. Saw it was on netflix instant, so I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Awesome cast, great story, and watching Nick Nolte dressed in a 50’s suit tuning guys up with a leather sap just makes for an enjoyable film.

Also Jennifer Connolly used to be SO hot…then she stopped eating.

“Gun Death” Dad

You hear jokes about Dad’s and boyfriends. They aren’t as funny when they really happen.

A Kingman father has been arrested after police say he deliberately ran over his daughter’s 21-year-old boyfriend killing the man.

And of course, again we can’t compare guns with cars, even when a car is a murder weapon. Just be glad this young man was not a victim of “Gun Violence”

Nice Upgrade

I pointed out that Bluesun got himself a Bushmaster AR-10 which was a starting point.

Now with some glass, some Magpul furniture and mags and the sling attached its went from “Good Start” to “Serviceable Rifle”

Its a good feeling! When I got my FAL I knew it was the right gun for me. But also in the condition I bought it it didn’t run well and the ergonomics sucked, and there were no attachment points for a sling. So I liked it, and was glad I had it…but as a go-to rifle, it didn’t work. Now it works. YEAHH that’s the whole damn point.

Go Bluesun, your new rifle looks slick as owl shit! Well done!

Shooting at Virginia Tech

**UPDATE**more Boots-on-the-ground info from Jake here

Jake is the local boots on the ground for this story.

Not a lot of details yet, but it sounds like two dead. My thoughts go out to those affected.

Interestingly when I first got wind of this I was reading this article:

No, bringing guns on campus won’t solve the problems of school violence.

-Collin Goddard of the Brady Campaign

Seems the ban on guns on campus doesn’t work either.

more here.

Keep Out of Boston Tonight

Knowing the “Peceful Protest” that is Occupy Boston, and the greater Kill The Jews movement, there will be blood.

Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino today gave Occupy Boston protesters a midnight deadline to leave their Dewey Square encampment.

Go over there for the picture. And that’s the part that aren’t mounds of human waste. What a mess these Nazis have made, and for what?

Still I suspect there will be a riot and arrests, so stay clear of Boston tonight if you can.
