Catchy Tune and Interesting Story

Another from Hot Air

Nice song, and I’ve always loved the saying “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail”. Still there’s a bit of a story that goes with this one.

Twenty-six-year-old Bryan Glover is a Christian who co-wrote a song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail,” which takes a dig at the current administration and what he believes to be the wrong moves for the U.S. He sent a link to his song to everyone in his personal e-mail inbox, which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.

“An hour-and-a-half after sending out the e-mail, I got the phone call from the head coach saying that he had had complaints from parents; he was told to fire me,” the former coach accounts.

He notes that he was surprised by the allegations against him.

“When the coach first called me, he said his phone was blown up with parents saying that I was being politically incorrect — quote, unquote — if you will, and that some of them were even reading into racial overtones in the song,” Glover explains.

Another tired play of the race card, given that the song doesn’t even mention the name of our President, just his number in the line of succession, let alone his race or color. Still a good idea when dealing with your employment is don’t talk politics in mixed company. Some people can be mature, others cannot, and that’s what it boils down to. I have co-workers who could easily be described as “Moobats”, and when it comes to getting their job done and moving the company forward that doesn’t impact my relationship with them…hell I work with people who could be described as “Assholes”, but they get their work done and I do mine, what do I care….still incidents like this say, don’t take the chance that somebody might have an axe to grind if you upset their delicate sensibilities.

When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. When all you have is high explosives, every problem looks AWESOME!!

    My personal philosophy.

I like the saying “Brute force: if it doesn’t work you’re not using enough of it.”
