Drop another “Gun Death” post because its local and has a Message.
SOUTH YARMOUTH – Bail was set at $10,000 Monday night for a South Dennis man charged with beating an elderly man with a glass candlestick during a home invasion.
The victim, a former Marine, was treated at the scene by the Yarmouth Fire Department for cuts and bruises, according to Yarmouth police.
First up for those of you who don’t know Massachusetts geography, Yarmouth is right in the middle of Cape Cod, and as far as I can tell there aren’t any “Bad Neighborhoods” on the Cape, unless you consider “Bad” two men in the dune grass humping.
Second of course the weapon was a simple candlestick. You thinking what I am? so this violent act does not count as “Gun Violence” or “Gun Death”, still the police are charging him with “Assault with a Dangerous Weapon”…seems to count somewhere.
Lastly, the man is a Marine, and he didn’t bring a weapon into the game? He was trusted enough to have a weapon in service of this country, but didn’t have one to defend his home? I’m glad he’s OK, and I hope he thinks twice about this incident.

Police say he had been beaten with a glass candlestick and had been punched. The victim, a World War II veteran, fought off Menchin, forcing him to flee on foot.
Way-to-go Marine! Still a Garand would have a little more panache….
