“Gun Death” Oktoberfest

This one is still serious, but a little lighter.

While certain crimes are down at Oktoberfest this year, there have been more attacks with an unlikely, yet readily available, weapon: the one-liter beer stein. Some of the victims have been whisked away in ambulances with concussions and fractured skulls caused by fights involving the heavy glasses.

Brings funny images of fat drunks in Lederhosen getting in brawls. But honestly beer steins can be pretty dangerous if used as a weapon, and certainly cuncussions, skull fractures and ambulance rides are no joke.

Also because she’s a jerk, let’s rag on Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign and Million Mom March.

The only problem with your logic is that guns just happen to be the leading cause of homicide in the U.S. Other “weapons” or methods don’t come close.

Seems that people with violent intent use the weapon they have at hand. In the US this means our violent criminal element has guns. If the guns were taken away…and say they still had pubware…

Hence why focusing on the tool is foolish behavior of foolish people.

  1. Linoge says:

Anyone who sincerely believes that an inanimate object can “cause” anything is a damned fool, and, in her case, a bigot to boot.

The sad thing, though, is that we already know what happens when firearms are banned – once-Great Britain is providing us all the data on that horrid prospect we would ever need.

    Linoge,

And it can not be a case of misunderstanding

Consider the exchange I documented on my blog
    Me
    Joan,

I’ve said nothing about banning the tool in my statements here.

What I have talked about is your fantasy of firearms committing crimes.

Can you show me one murder (legal definition) committed by a firearm instead of with a firearm?

Or do you not understand the difference?

    Joan Peterson responded

I understand what you are trying to make the difference. I just don’t agree.

What really bewilders me is how they insist we need to be checked for mental health?!?!?!?!
