In Maine we need a Doe Permit for that

Talk about an interesting story

An escaped 1,200-pound heifer that threatened police officers was shot Tuesday after escaping from a meat processing facility near downtown Lafayette….Shortly after, the heifer was found running wildly along the banks of the Wabash, said Lt. Jim Taul of the Lafayette Police Department. Four officers armed with shotguns and AR-15 rifles responded.

No word if it was a shotgun or the .223 “Poodle Shooter” that took ‘ol Bossy down. Generally in Maine they get taken down by a rusty .30-30 or a .30-06 by a drunk hunter with a doe tag in his pocket. 😀

I kid, as a rogue cow can be a VERY dangerous creature, especially in the unpredictable environment of a street. I’m glad the officers took her down before anybody got hurt. Still I’m with Tam that this odd story is pretty funny.

Oh BTW which one of my great readers tipped me off to the term Slow Elk?

Or how about the New Yorker who shot someone’s llama and tagged it, only to find it wasn’t an elk when he brought it to the taxidermist?

Eh- if you shoot it enough in the right area, even a .223 can take down a moose. (Or so I’m told. Lightest thing the guys and I have gone out with is a .270) 😉

Gotta watch out for those off-colored antler-less moose. 😉

Yeah, animals generally flip out when they’re thoroughly menaced.

Also: “An escaped 1,200-pound heifer that threatened police officers…”

Officer: Hello? Who is this? It’s three in the morning.

    Caller: Is this Officer Smith?

    Officer: Yeah…who’s asking?

Caller: I’m watching your every mooooooooove. Don’t show up at South First Street if you know what’s good for you.

Officer: Is that a threat? Are you trying to threaten me? Do I hear a bell?

Caller: You better watch your back, /COP/! > click! <
