From The Armed Citizen

A Port Charlotte woman foiled a home burglary early Sunday when she confronted the would-be burglar with a .22-caliber rifle.

Authorities are now looking for an unidentified black man who tried to break into the LaSalle Avenue home around 6 a.m.

Sheriff’s detectives said the woman scared away the man while investigating a suspicious noise outside her house.

The suspect, described as about 6 feet tall, was standing on the lanai when the armed homeowner frightened him.

I’ve heard some people say “Guns are Bad News for Women”, but what else can get a woman early in the morning scare away a 6-foot black man with ill intent?

Also good on her for getting the gun in the first place. You can always say “Oh shucks, the cat just knocked something off the counter” or “Oh, it must have just been the wind”, and put your gun away. You can’t say “Wait Mr. Rapist, while I go get my shootin’ iron!”.

If I’m investigating a noise at night I have a loaded gun with me. If I don’t feel a gun is warranted, I don’t get my ass out of bed.

Of course being ME, at 6am, I’m generally up, dressed, and have a gun on me in the first place….but that’s me!

It is clear that she didn’t need a gun. She could have just given him a graduation card.

I always like your posts about how being pro-gun saved someone’s life or property.
