Quote of the Day: How they See Us

Again from Brady Campaign, and Joyce Foundation Member Joan Peterson

But the evidence is plain that guns cause more suicide than other methods and that gun suicides are ahead of gun homicides as to the number of gun deaths in our country. So, even if you all want me to stop working on this, it just does not make sense. Why can’t you all admit that guns do contribute to a great number of suicides and that there are things that can be done? As I have said many many times before. There are a lot of causes in the country on which to spend time. I have chosen to spend my time on this one. It is useless for you all to tell me I shouldn’t. I just don’t get that. What benefit is that to you all? If I stop advocating for common sense concerning prevention of gun homicides, suicides and accidental deaths, will that do something for you? Why do you all persist in this nonsensical argument?

I mean that little blurb just says so much. “Guns Cause Suicide”? Joan also thinks guns cause crime as well. That isn’t true. But then she says guns CONTRIBUTE to suicide…well which is it? I would agree to an extent with the the 2nd statement, as guns are popular suicide tools, but they account for only 50% of all suicides, so if guns vanished magically, I have little doubt people committed to end their life wouldn’t turn to another tool. I mean I had a lose screw I had to tighten the other day, I didn’t have a screwdriver…so I used a dime that was in my pocket. Wasn’t as elegant, but the screw is still tight.

I also disagree that its useless to tell Joan to give up the gun control nonsense. Not because she WILL give up, but because it invokes GREAT quotes like this.

But the most important one is this.

“If I stop advocating for common sense concerning prevention of gun homicides, suicides and accidental deaths, will that do something for you?”

Yes it will, just as it will when somebody arguing for ownership of blacks stops, or somebody arguing for segregation of schools stops, or somebody arguing for the prohibition of alcohol stops, or somebody arguing the joys of national socialism stops. These are all DANGEROUS things that are being advocated, and all of them have caused tremendously amounts of death and destruction throughout the years. You are a threat to our lives, our safety, and our well-being.

That’s what’s in it for us.

I just posted the following…Joan has not approved the past few comments I’ve made, so I’ve resorted to keeping copies in case she goes off the deep end, and decides to sue for mental distress and doctors the posts after the fact. ๐Ÿ™‚

    ****************************

    Joan…

You really need to examine something that the scientific community calls “cause and effect.”

For instance…drunk driving causes accidents. It wasn’t the *car* that was drunk…it was the person *using* the car.

Carelessness when using a sewing machine will cause a needle to go right through your finger…the machine didn’t cause the accident. The operators carelessness did.

Same applies to suicide. The “cause” of the suicide was NOT the gun, just as it would not be the rope (hanging) the sleeping pills (poisoning) nor the building or bridge (jumping to your death) which *caused* the death.

I understand the point hat you are trying to make, I just dismiss it as being nonsensical, because if we get rid of all guns in the whole world, people would just turn to the next easiest object with which to kill themselves, then we’ll need to start this whole cycle all over again and have you take up the cause of evil ropes killing people when those innocent people who were simply minding their own business stepped up onto a ladder, attached a rope to the ceiling, tied a knot on the free end, put it over their heads, and jumped off said ladder.

Tell me now, really…how could a rope *cause* the suicide? It can’t, and you know it. Just as you know that a GUN can’t CAUSE a suicide.

You’re being rather disingenuous in your argument.

Insanity is described as performing the same action over and over, but expecting a different outcome. Please seek help Joan, as you seem to insist on performing the same action (blaming inanimate objects that do not have a life of their own) for something that clearly takes a conscious choice to do, like Suicide, Murder, etc., and are expecting that if you just keep at it, the result will one day change, and people will agree with you.

Let’s face it, right there, Joan is insane. (Step further, strident supporters of gun control are insane) she may agree that drunks cause accidents, and banning cars is foolish, and locking up drunks is smart. She may agree that attempting to blame ropes or razors for suicide are also foolish, and we need to look at the cause of the emotional distress.

But guns are DIFFERENT, and her explanations for this may vary greatly, but that’s how she sees it, and we’re fools for not agreeing with her.

    • Jake says:

After reading her posts and comments in various places, I wouldn’t be surprised if her response was “But there would be fewer gun suicides.” I don’t think she cares about overall suicide rates (or murder/accident/etc. rates) as long as guns aren’t involved.

I really think she has some form of cognitive disability centered around guns that was probably caused by the psychological trauma of her sister’s death – it literally broke her brain. She is simply completely incapable of rational thought on any subject that involves guns.

It is interesting to see that she while she feels free to use the deaths of white men who kill themselves to support her position she has only contempt for the possibility that they might be subjected to abuse that could drive them to such action.

  4. My post for the day started off with something to the effect of, “eventually Paul Helmke is going to tell Joan Peterson to shut up.”

Joan should keep posting because she is basically confirming for us everything we have been saying about their true intentions. She’s just so far gone that she doesn’t realize how hard her side has been working to keep it all hidden.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Indeed, I suspect at some point the paid shills at either Brady or Joyce will find this If they haven’t already. Maybe they won’t see what’s wrong and just call us the crazy ones (I mean they DO work for Brady and Joyce…) maybe they’ll attempt to muzzle her. You certainly don’t see such free chatter from the Motherships as you do from the Landing Party that is Joan Peterson.

  5. mike w. says:

Weer’d – I asked her if a spoon “causes” someone to get fat. She canned my comment. After all, if guns cause homicide and suicide then spoons cause overeating and obesity…..

But then Don Viti lacked the intellectual capacity to understand that analogy too. I will say his stupidity was more entertaining than Joan’s.

  6. George says:

Spotting the crazy in her posts is starting be like a really, really version of Where’s Waldo…

  7. Patrick says:

We commonly point out that these people enable criminals but usually in more of a direct way. No firearms, easy prey.

I’ve not seen anyone really make a point about the time and energy wasted on combating the crazy instead of working on real solutions. Like getting help for those who need it, putting criminals behind jail with real sentences and working to stop making criminals out of law-abiding citizens. By Joan shutting up, we could expend our energy on real solutions. That would be the benefit.
