Today

Things are slowly settling down in the new location, so work life is SLOWLY returning to normal. Overall mood is tired and jaded. Still I suspect there will be more opportunities for blogging soon.

I do have to take a moment to remember what happened on this date 69 years ago. Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy. Tam has an interesting take on the date, by posting a picture of a Japanese Aircraft Carrier in full blaze after the battle of Midway. Indeed the Japanese woke a sleeping Giant that day, as the US was perfectly content to watch Hitler carve up Europe and stuff their Jews, Gays, mentally ill, and Gypsies into furnaces. Can you imagine how the history books might have read if the Japanese forces hadn’t attacked Pearl Harbor on this day?

On a lighter note, 7 years later my favorite singer/songwriter was born. Allegedly in the back seat of a Taxi Cab in Pomona California. Here’s a tune that I think is nice for recognizing his bittersweet birthday.

We remember our dead, and wish Tom Waits a happy Birthday.
