Floater

I don’t have too much to add, so I’ll just do linky. Sebastian and Jay have covered this bizarre story of a body floating in a public swimming pool for several days without notice.

All I have to add is that there was an indoor muni-pool near my home growing up. I spent a LOT of time in that pool, either just swimming, taking swim classes or getting my SCUBA certification, and for the various swim teams I was on in school. I also knew several people who worked in that pool, so I’ve been at the pool when the lights were being switched on.

The pool is empty and the water is like glass. If you don’t see an adult body resting on the bottom you didn’t look, and if you didn’t see an object floating in the pool you probably shouldn’t be out in public without a chaperone, and you have no business working in on or around a pool.

I wonder if there was foul play, or if this was just an amazing level of incompetence.

Very strange case.

I swear Weer’d, you’re sounding more and more like my long lost twin. Private club team in Junior High and High School, and swam on the High School team too. Got my SCUBA ticket junior year, was often at the pool when it opened for lap swim before school. Got my BSA Lifeguard too and then backed it with a Red Cross certificate, did you do that too? And you’re right, when a pool opens the water is calm and clear like glass. I still think there’s more to this than we’re hearing. Even though yeah it was mainly teenagers who work at a pool, at least at my pool growing up, it wasn’t taken lightly.
