“Gun Death” Knife Control

Yesterday we talked about fists…almost as common: Knives.

New Castle County, Del. detectives arrested Jorge Ramirez-Arce, 29, of the unit block of Abbey Lane in the Abbey Walk Apartment complex, east of Newark. He has been charged with first degree murder after he stabbed his roommate during an altercation outside their apartment early Saturday morning.

We all own knives, we all have had altercations, especially with room mates (Live long enough under one roof, and heads WILL butt…nothing wrong with that if nobody is physically hurt). Those who use the metric of “Gun Death” claim that somehow guns somehow cause more death, but look at this case. A knife was used, but we ALL have knives.

What we don’t have are a will to kill. That’s the only relevant factor.

I actually pointed out that fact to my roommate during a discussion of gun control. He brought up “crimes of passion.”

I pointed to the large kitchen knife within arms length of me…… If you have a will to kill then grabbing a knife doesn’t really take any more time or effort than pulling out a gun.

And I dunno about you, but I’ve gotten into some SERIOUSLY heated discussions with people while I was carrying a gun….I’ve never shot anybody….I’ve also never beaten the hell out of somebody over a discussion. The point is its the person, not the tool.
