“Gun Death” Mixed Bag

Actually found this one on an anti-gun blog.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the State Police said, Mr. Friedlander, 50, beat his wife to death with the leg of a piece of furniture. He also fatally shot his two children, Molly, 10, and Gregory, 8, in their bedrooms, covered their bodies with their bedspreads, then went downstairs to the basement and turned the weapon, a 12-gauge Remington pump-action shotgun, on himself, Maj. Michael Kopy of the State Police said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Now of course this anti was beating his drum because the children were shot with a shotgun, as well as that was the chosen method of suicide.

But if you’re a regular reader of the “Gun Death?” Files you’ll notice that small children are often cited here because they’re weak and small so many cases of them being beaten to death are common, furthermore they’re dependent on their parents, how often does a sick parent feed them poison or drown them in the tub?

An adult is much harder to kill just because they’re more aware and have more size and strength. Of course in this case he felt the need to beat her with an improvised club. Something built with the intent to hold up furniture…but it was used for a weapon.

Also note that New York is a fairly rotten state for buying and owning guns…but a Remington 870 is one of those guns that is acceptable because of its “Sporting Uses”.

Also I don’t see why we should get all bent out of shape over his suicide. He committed three brutal murders in a state without capital punishment. He saved the courts and the penal system a LOT of money with that one shotgun shell.

And I’ll close with a song that this reminds me of:
