Helping Hands Across State Lines

This is a nice feel-good story.

The demand for “conceal and carry” courses has increased after Wisconsin law made it legal on Nov. 1. Even Minnesota gun instructors are getting involved.

Steven Holt, manager of Arrowhead Firearms Training Academy in Duluth, said new training demands from across the border means he’ll begin classes for Wisconsin residents in January.

Conceal carry has become so popular that when Wisconsin finally legalized carry people flooded the system to get their permit and start legally carry concealed. (Which in Wisconsin at this time of year is the ONLY way to carry really) The same thing has been happening here in Massachusetts as more people begin to own and carry guns here, is that the waiting lists for classes become long as the classes fill to the max.

So its nice to see the neighbors in Minnesota helping out where they can!

Fortunately, like Arizona, Wisconsin recognizes a DD-214 “showing either ‘honorable discharge’ or ‘general under honorable conditions'” as a document proving firearms safety training. That being said, I have no idea how many Wisconsin potential CCW applicants know that such a DD-214 is considered a document proving firearms safety training. Making sure the word gets around may save some Wisconsin residents a bit of time and cash (though I certainly won’t argue that state-specific firearms training is a bad thing).

Yep, helping hands DO make the quals go a lot faster!
