Morning Wiki-Wander

Ok So for whatever reason I felt the need this morning to read a condensed biography of Stacy Keach (Don’t ask why because I have no fucking clue….I think somebody said “The Weather today is a Peach” and my mind went from there) Well it turned out in his youth, Stacy was in a play called MacBird!

MacBird! was a 1967 satire by Barbara Garson that superimposed the struggle for power following the Kennedy assassination onto the plot of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Thus John F. Kennedy becomes “Ken O’Dunc”, Lyndon Johnson becomes “MacBird”, Lady Bird Johnson becomes “Lady MacBird”, and so forth. As Macbeth assassinates Duncan, so MacBird is responsible for the assassination of Ken O’Dunc; and as Macbeth is defeated by Macduff, so MacBird is defeated by Robert O’Dunc (i.e. Robert Kennedy). This action is significantly influenced by the Three Witches, representing Students, Blacks, and Leftists.

Given that it was spawned out of the Berkley anti-war movement, and the fact that I had never heard about it until this morning, its likely a total turd, still I’d really like to see it now!

Then again we all know how badly MacBeth Remakes can go….
