In Wally’s Clubhouse there are several impressive mounts, mostly whitetail bucks, and various local fishes. But the one I was most amused with was the Pronghorn Antelope.
Often called “Speed Goats” for their impressive running speed. I told this guy he was too damn fast!
We then made up.
He was a pretty Speed Goat!
Much thanks to Jay for following excellent instructions on what bizarre photos I wanted with a dead antelope!
And thanks again to Wally for hosting us at his amazing club!
Now THOSE are a challenge… 🙂
I hear you need to bag them from a LOOOOOONG way away.
From what I saw Wally could do it with Iron sights on an AR!
O_o
I was there in person and don’t remember the pictures being so strange in real life. I think the camera adds 10 pounds of strange…
My Mission here is OVER!
Also good on Jay for his camera work!
BTW maybe its because you’re home and haven’t been listening to my bizarre rantings all day. You had developed a tolerance for pure Weer’d!
Around here we call them “stink goats”, which make sense if you have ever skinned and dressed one.
They aren’t that bad if they haven’t been running flat out.
You don’t chase one if you intend to eat the meat.
That goes for anything, Lactic Acidosis will make any meat taste nasty!
I heard one person say that bear meat is thought to be nasty because bears are so hard to kill clean…never eaten any bear to prove that point…
Best memory of a pronghorn is chasing one for about a mile down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, Montana in a pickup. Every time it tried to veer off you could steer over in that direction and convince it otherwise. We were probably going 35 or 40 mph. It seemed like the antelope could have gone faster, if it would have just ignored us and booked it.
They can go faster. They evolved while the North American Cheetah was still around.
Heh. Glad I could be of assistance…
