Well had a great time with family in Vermont, but DAMN did the weather suck. First up, I thought we had a lot of snow, ho-lee-shit was there some snow up there. It rained most of the time we were up there and was chilly all day, and fucking COLD at night. Then when it was time to leave hell broke lose, and we had freezing-rain (and I mean SERIOUS freezing rain, as the power lines had 2-inch icicles handing from them inside of an hour of the rain starting) then snow, and BIG snow.
It was really hairy for the first hour of driving, but then the snow turned to rain (and the glare ice turned to wet tar) and eventually we got home.
Meanwhile here its 55 and light rain, which feels downright tropical. Our snowbanks are receding like crazy (and our basement is dry, and the storm drains are holding up well). I just put my recycling bins out where there was one a couch 6 feet in the air, and my Adirondack chairs are nearly exposed.
I’m happy to see winter’s tail-lights!

My sump pump kicked on today. On the ride into work pretty much every body of water I passed was at peak capacity. If we get any kind of rain this spring we’re going to see some record flooding.
If you don’t already have one, get a second pump…
I do have one, as of last night my sump was bone dry. Hopefully we won’t get any flooding this year, last was enough for me.
