The Other Side of “Gun Death?”

Been meaning to write this post for a while, now I have a few posts to link to. Both are from Jay.

INDEPENDENCE, Ky. – A man shot and killed an intruder at his home in Independence, Ky. early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 12 a.m. on Sylvan Drive.

Police say 45-year-old Alan Hampton, a neighbor, came in through the house’s front door and assaulted those in the home with a chair while they slept.

Here’s the other:

A short time later, a worker at the Valero gas station at 1354 Vernon Odom Blvd. told police that a man armed with a knife walked behind the counter and took the cash register drawer. The man then dove toward the employee with his knife when the worker pulled out a gun. The bandit was shot in the leg, the worker said.

These are both from Jay’s “Dead Goblin Count”

I do “Gun Death?” posts for three reasons, one is a bit silly, but I get a lot of positive feedback for them, and its an easy way to keep the blog active, even when I’m away from my computer for an extended amount of time. The other reasons are vastly more serious. Anti-Rights advocates constantly preach their restrictions in terms of “Gun Death” and “Gun Violence”, the “Gun Death?” posts are to show the bystanders that a world without “Gun Death” isn’t very desirable if nothing is done to stop criminals from committing violent acts.

Second is to show what happens when people are denied across the board the tools for self-defense.

Now look at the two posts above. Both are people who were violently attacked with deadly weapons that were not guns. Both cases the attacks were stopped with the use of a lawfully held firearm. One resulted in a dead attacker, the other was simply injured. If you are not prepared to defend yourself you could very well be an entry in my “Gun Death?” report.

Of course we all prefer a peaceful day in our PJs wishing no harm to anybody, but violence does happen, and it isn’t a rare thing. I would rather be an entry in Jay’s Dead Goblin count, than in my own “Gun Death?” posts.
