Almost Home

Taking a quick pit-stop at the folks house.

Probably going to stop by Wally’s shop for a quick Hello, and then home. Unless I dally too much around the machine guns, I’ll be home in time for tonight’s Squirrel Report which I have done ZERO prep work for.

BTW, I’m still surprised at how much I love the new Ford Edge, its a really great vehicle to cruise across the countryside in.

Oh, and there is no way I might know this, but a little bird told me that if there is a speed governor on this car its further up the speedometer than would be practical on American roads….

Fun week, but I’m glad to be heading home!

  1. Spike says:

Isn’t your prep work for the Squirrel Report just getting drunk?

    • Weerd Beard says:

LOL, usually I read up on the stories we’ll be talking about, and pour a nice drink.

Since I spent so much time handing NFA items and minting new rifles at York arms, all I had time to do was take off my coat. Didn’t even take off my gun, so no sauce last night!

  2. Jay G. says:

Dude, you got a new ride? Sweet!

And don’t get too attached to Sting…

  3. Wally says:

And for the record, Weerd has earned his “builder’s club” shirt!

  4. Critter says:

i think the term “edge” or “edgey” has officially jumped the shark. i mean, that’s not very edge-like, more jelly bean-mom mobile-grocery getter shaped. if it rides well, cool. but “edge”?

    • Weerd Beard says:

I call it “The Ugly Station Wagon”. Its a pleasure to drive, can haul a lot of people, or a lot of cargo, or a combination of the two. Goes like a raped-ape for such modest numbers, and is mighty comfortable for all riding.

Yeah but “Edge” doesn’t seem to fit. My Ranger was the “EDGE” trim package which was larger off-road tires, 4×4, and a mud-resistant interior, and while hardly some of the custom offroad vehicles out there, it could take you closer to the proverbial Edge than all but the FX4 top-level offroads (that was priced as one of the highest trim levels, and had much of the underside skid plated, plus some luxury items like premium sound that is neither here nor there for tossin’ mud).

For this car-framed family car, I wouldn’t take it on much more than a snowy side-street, or a moderately dry logging road. Yeah, “Edge” she isn’t, “Ugly Station Wagon” is much more fitting.
