Another .308 Battle Rifle

I love .308 for a rifle round. I find it to be one of the best mixes between power and size and recoil, and it makes for a great rifle that can fit a wide range of aplications.

This review is a VERY good one. I’ve been following Falia since her early concealed carry videos (go check them out, especially if you a small-frame woman looking for concealment options, she has one of the hardest body-types for concealment…as well as her wardrobe doesn’t make concessions for carry), and its great to see her making great progress in her youtube channel!

Man that’s a great looking rifle. Looks like they took all the best parts of the FAL and all the best parts of the AR10 and combined them. Also in the takedown section she uses an Allen wrench to remove the barrel….but from what I can see it looks like this gun can be easily cleaned and maintained without needing to remove the barrel. Just pull out the op rod and action and simply swab the barrel and piston through the upper receiver. Still it sounds like popping the barrel out doesn’t change the zero of the gun, which is a selling point.

She doesn’t say but it looks like it takes Magpul .308 P-Mags.

**UPDATE** Speaking of .308 Youtube reviews!

Looks great, my only concern is can the company keep up with parts and demand?

Oh and the Can! Nice to hear .308 so quiet. When I shoot my FAL at the indoor range at the club it certainly turns some heads.

Does anybody have any experience with these guns? Of course they’re illegal in Massachusetts, but I’d still love to hear if anybody else shoots one.

I remember a lot of complaints about the XCR when it first came out and most of them had to do with customer service from Robinson Arms so I’m a bit hesitant, but it does seem like a nice rifle.

It’s based on the Stoner 63 to some extent so it has a nice pedigree.

Keeping in mind that my entire experience of the XCR involves what I read on gun forums, +1 to D2K. Seems to be a bit of a H und K thing–very nice gun but not very nice attitude.

That’s interesting. When I bought my new 91 in ’81, I didn’t give a second thought to the companys attitude. I was more concerned with performance. Silly me. All these years later, I still have it and it still works 100% with zero repairs needed. The same holds true for all of my “H und K” pistols.

If I live another 300 years, and actually wear out any of my HKs’, I’ll give manufacturer attitude serious consideration before my next purchase.

Bashers. Where would we be without them? And pray tell…what is your “entire experience” with HK firearms? Or are you just possibly repeating internet crap without personal knowledge?

  3. If you want an XCR, get one through a dealer, never direct.

Best source of info is xcrforum.com

I’ve heard a lot about the XCR in the form of, “Great gun but…” The owner of the place is his own worst enemy; he’s had a couple of self defeating epic rants. There were a couple of guys over at the 6.8 forums who really wanted to believe and walked away because of Alex.

When you research Robinson be sure to check what happened to the people who bought the Stoner M63 clone (M96 Expeditionary Rifle) he was making. The lifetime warranty changed to limited then to FOAD then got an epic rant associated with it.

Having shot both the M-14 and the SCAR, it’s the SCAR hands down… If you look at the video, you can see the M-14 jumping off the shoulder, while the SCAR stays put. And yes it DOES feel like a lower caliber rifle!

  6. I’ve fired both the Springfield M1A Scout and the FN Mark 17 (SCAR-H) quite a bit. The Mark 17 would be my first choice of the two. It’s recoil is buffered, the lower shot line reduces muzzle rise, it’s a cinch to maintain, and very accurate. Like the AR platform, it can be easily converted to other calibers. Special operators bet their lives on it daily, and with good reason. I’d have one in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the price – a bit out of my league. FN stands firmly behind their products.

I’ve also worked a lot with H&K folks. I’ve never had any problems with them, and their firearms are first rate. The 5th Special Forces Group and other special operators chose the HK416 over the M4, but big Army made the 5th give them up to protect their interests in the M4. Even so, I’d take the FN Mk 16 (SCAR-L) over the HK416 or the M4. The Mk 16 is a dream to shoot.

No experience to offer with Robinson or their firearms.
