Another “Copycat” Patsy

I wonder how much of this story is trumped up because the media wants a copycat:

Authorities say the suspect called himself “a joker” before his arrest Thursday. Officials say they believe the threat could have been carried out as a copycat of the shooting massacre one week ago in Aurora, Colo., in which 12 people were killed and 58 injured during a midnight viewing of the new Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.”

“I am a joker. I’m gonna load my guns and blow everybody up,” the man told his supervisor in a phone conversation earlier this week, officials said.

The suspect was also wearing a T-shirt that said, “Guns don’t kill people. I do,” when taken into custody, according to authorities.

Maybe he was a deranged guy who thought he was a fictitious villain…or maybe he was just joking. As a general rule those “Guns don’t kill people. I do” T-shirts are more tongue in cheek than anything. Hell we don’t even know if the Aurora shooter actually was emulating the Batman mythos, or if it was something taken wildly out of context…hell he had dyed his hair orange and red…the Joker’s hair has always been green in the Batman comics.

Still here’s something for a chuckle:

The Associated Press reports that a search of the suspect’s home turned up more than 20 guns, including assault rifles and handguns, and more than 400 rounds of ammunition.

400 rounds of ammo is little more than a weekend at the range for most. 20 guns can be a decent collection…still who wants to bet that some of those are just Airsoft?

Even if this is all true, its nice to know that most crazies are really incapable of carrying out a serious attack, as their illness will always give them away so long as people are brave enough to take steps when they KNOW things are really bad.
