Evening Video: Good Form

Nice Video of Destinee tossing some .500 Magnums down Range

Also good on her for playing it safe by loading one round at a time. “Doubles” can happen, its not really a “Double”, its just a case of severe inertia. The person is squeezing the gun in a death grip, and is attempting to hold the trigger back in their follow-through, but instead the recoil overcomes their grip pushing the gun back far enough to reset the trigger….but the shooter still holding the gun and trigger in a death grip pulls the trigger through a full travel a SECOND time, usually while the muzzle is pointing upward. Scary!

I’ve thankfully never encountered that, but another thing to note was while shooting some CRAZY HOT handloads I ran about 15 rounds down range and thought I was OK….but my right hand tendons were so battered from the recoil I couldn’t open a jar or shake somebody’s hand without wincing for a week.

Its easy to get “Macho” if you’re a man or a woman when shooting a gun so ridiculously huge as this. Its good to know your limits!

I’ve had a double with a 20 gauge “handgun” with a double trigger and they are surprising. If you’re not on your game, they can be very dangerous.

Lots of kudos to her. 1, she knew her stuff and her limits. 2, she managed the recoil quite well 3, she wanted to do it again 🙂 4, when she did it again, she concentrated and kept it stead with not flinch, even on double action. Very nicely done and what a fantastic smile at the end. I love it.

      Howdah Pistol, or SBS?

Yeah well to have a double with a twin-trigger gun is simply the first part where you simply pull through the second trigger. I guess it could happen fairly easy on a single-trigger double as well for exactly the same reason as the .500 doubles just with a shorter reset and pull stroke.
