George Zimmerman posted bail yesterday:
George Zimmerman was released from jail on Friday, one day after a Florida judge set bail at $1 million.
Judge Kenneth R. Lester Jr. found that Zimmerman’s deceit over cash holdings at his first bond hearing in April was not enough to hold him without bail. However, he also said he believed the suspect may have been planning to flee the country to avoid prosecution in the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman had to post 10% of the $1 million — or $100,000 — to meet the requirement for release.
And I suspect he won’t “flee the country”, nor will he flee the county, as that’s a term of his release. I’m a bit concerned about his safety as a county is a lot easier to search than a state, or region, and again there are people who want to murder Mr. Zimmerman.
Still the good guys are doing the good thing:
Since news of the judge’s decision broke, roughly $20,000 was donated to Zimmerman’s defense, according to a website set up to raise funds.
Let’s hope justice can be found in this boondoggle. I’m skeptical at best….

B) 1 Million for SECOND-Degree Murder? Anyone want to bet how much his 8th Amendment Rights are being Violated? Sounds like a Public Records Search of all the Bail Amounts for the last 10 years in the State of Florida can find that 1 million dollars meets the requirement of “Excessive bail shall not be required…”
This is so amazingly political…if this was Rodney King (RIP) his bail would be ROR.
I am as socially liberal as they come and I even I can see this. The judge is pandering to the minority left who want blood on this and unfortunately for Zimmerman the judge is caving to demands of the populous.
For some reason this reminds me very much of the whole Aaron Worthing vs. Brett Kimberlin debacle, though the stacks are higher….
