Wow, if this case wasn’t a great example of gun control, I don’t know what is.
Los Angeles police say a 1-year-old boy has died after he and his father were shot by a teenager on a bicycle….The suspect fled and hasn’t been arrested.
Police could not immediately name a motive, but Tingirides says investigators were leaning heavily toward gang rivalry being the cause.
So we have somebody who’s underage, illegally carrying a gun, probably a stolen gun, and they probably already have convictions, and this is suspected to be gang-related.
All of these factors, but those who are against freedom ONLY focus on the gun. What’s really scary is how little anti-rights activists play the bleeding-heart card about “Victims of Gun Violence”, but never seem to note the toll that gangs (and the drug prohibitions that give the gangs their recruitment draw and power) play on public safety.
Simple – it is easier to do something about the gun, and, more importantly, look like you are doing something in general, than it is to do something about the gang members.
I mean, standing up at a police precinct HQ and orchestrating a “gun buy back” is about the safest place in the world to be – you know no gang-banger is going to show up there with their firearms, just little old ladies who do not know better and are probably unwittingly destroying priceless pieces of history. But going out into the barrios and slums and ganglands and whatnot else and trying to help those people there so they are not inclined to tolerate or fall in with the gangs? That shit is dangerous, man!
Appearances may or may not be everything, but they are the only thing anti-rights cultists are concerned with.
Oh the bangers show up for sure. But they’re doing it to ditch a gun that could tie them back to a serious murder, or the old gun that was in the safe they cleaned out in a robbery that was in .38 Super, or 10mm auto, or some other caliber they can’t find ammo for, so they can’t sell it to other bangers. They won’t be gunning for the police because the Police are their biggest ally in that case. Destroying evidence, no questions ask AND they PAY the criminal for it? Win Win…at least for the bad guys.
But yeah 99% are all guns being turned in by ungrateful widows or grand kids…or the occasional hunter who didn’t realize that hunting meant a lot of quiet time in the woods or in a cold wet duck blind, and they don’t know about gun shops because somebody gave or sold them the gun.
