“Gun Death” Escalator

I dunno about you but escalators always scared me as a young kid.

A preliminary investigation into the death of a woman who fell on an escalator at a Long Island Rail Road station reveals that she died after her clothes got entangled in the escalator’s treads and she was asphyxiated.

Yikes! Man now I’m scared of the fuckers all over again!

Hey but at least it wasn’t a gun, right?

No one had a pocket knife to help cut her out? What’s the point of growing up and becoming a tool-using being of you’re not gonna carry a pocket knife?

That was my first thought too. I mean, WTF? I realize most people don’t carry trauma shears around, but having some kind of cutting implement is pretty much required for my daily life. It takes time to asphyxiate; I’m sure something could have been done unless she was completely alone and nobody witnessed the fall.

Of course, it’s Long Island. Any sort of knife is probably good for a concealed weapon charge there. People in NY are also generally not the stop and help type in my experience (grew up in Rochester, lots of family in upstate NY still). Man, I’m so glad I don’t live in that hellhole anymore.
