“Gun Death” “Gentleman Caller”

I answer the door armed. Generally because I put my gun on in the morning when I get dressed, and don’t take it off until I go to bed. But I’ll make it a point to bring a gun with me if I don’t expect somebody to be knocking. I must be Paranoid!

The prosecutor said Rios knocked on the door and when Hempel opened it he pushed himself in.

“She attempted to scream. He put his hand on her face and pushed her a distance into the living room, onto the floor and then he strangled her,” Romankow said. “He acknowledged that he did this, killed this lady.”

Investigators told CBS 2’s Christine Sloan that Rios walked away with only $360 worth of coins that he took over to a machine at a grocery store and turned into bills. Detectives said Rios had burglarized dozens of homes since January, including one by Hempel’s house, an incident resulting in him being chased by neighbors….Detectives said Hempel was the only victim who made the mistake of opening the door to Rios, a man with a lengthy criminal past that includes burglary and drugs.

This story comes from Bob who wrote this great peace on another illustrious citizen of Elizabeth NJ. This technique is a pretty common form of home invasion. The door is unlocked from inside by the unsuspecting resident, and then the door is used as leverage against them and entry is gained.

He then murdered her with nothing but his bare hands.

This was a career criminal who was known to police, yet was still walking the streets. Also he was unarmed. Those who use the metric of “Gun Death” see this as the vision of America. The criminals ruling over the unarmed lawful citizens, and while murders might be common, none of them would be “Gun Deaths”.

Is this the world you want to live in?
