“Gun Death” Knives and Bars

Knives and bars don’t mix.

The city has shut down a Dorchester bar where a bouncer was stabbed and seriously injured early Saturday when he tried to break up a fight between patrons.

City officials have ordered the closing of Ups N’ Downs, where six other people also suffered stab wounds Saturday at about 2 a.m., pending a hearing Wednesday before the Boston Licensing Board.

The bar will also appear in a separate hearing Wednesday before Patricia A. Malone, director of the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing….Police have said that besides the bouncer, who was seriously injured after being stabbed in the leg near the femoral artery, the other six victims suffered less severe stab wounds in the melee. Some victims took themselves to the hospital, police said.

Malone said her office has issued several warnings to Ups N’ Downs at 469 Neponset Ave. in the past, mainly for issues involving patrons getting into fights outside as they were leaving.

A mass stabbing in Massachusetts. Luckily nobody was killed, but that was pure luck. Of course Massachusetts has oppressive knife laws that did nothing to prevent this.

But at least nobody was shot, right?
