Tom Waits is a unique talent, that much is for sure.
Now that I think about it, I meant to reply in A minor, but I’ve been repeating C major diatonic triads for 20 minutes and buggered myself with muscle memory.

Tom’s favorite intro for “The Piano Has Been Drinking” is “This is a little duet I wrote for piano and fire extinguisher!” all while doing his great mock-drunk slur.
Also from “Small Change” is one of his greatest ballads “Tom Trobart’s Blues” which is often introduced as “This song is about throwing up in a foreign country”
