A witness in the Colorado shooting:
I’m never a huge fan of the “Play Dead” strategy, we know how well it worked out for people like Collin Goddard. Still the evidence is slim on what the shooting was like, and its possible if somebody armed was there they may not have been effective against this guy, or even if returning fire might have only hit fleeing people. Still I will never play dead, I’m not that good an actor, especially with my fight-or-flight response in full swing. Best option is to ESCAPE, second option is to FIGHT. The other options are simply dumb luck IMHO.
My heart goes out to all these people. This is a horrible event.
It’s a very limiting option.
Also a commenter on JayG’s pointed out that Colorado has binding signage.
And that the theater was a “gun free zone”.

Have you heard any information on that line? Was it for patrons or just employees?
Gah, cut short.
If so, then the options were even more limtied. As fighting back was severely curtailed, which leaves playing dead and escape. Playing dead is real bad because it puts you at no motion and no further options, especially if you’re disarmed/not going to fight.
I’ve heard that some of those theaters are posted. I’ve heard from CO residents that CO does NOT have binding signage, but that’s all hearsay at this time.
It seems that a lot of theaters by that company and it’s parent are signed across the country. And google street view doesn’t get close enough to show.
But regardless of wether or not the signage was binding, such signing would show that they clearly wanted the theater to be a “gun free zone”.
Handgunlaw says CO does NOT have binding signage.
That agrees with my account from residents.
Withdrawn.
I’d be interested to know if that location had signage non-the-less. As it seems to be a corporate policy to do it.
I suppose a local with a zoom-lens could check.
