Why Are We In Afganistan?

Stories like these frustrate me.

Officials say an Afghan police officer has shot and killed three U.S. Marines in southern Afghanistan. It is the third attack on coalition forces by their Afghan counterparts in a week.

Soldiers get in harms way, but my big issue is FOR WHAT? I mean what would Victory in Afghanistan look like? We don’t want to annex the nation for some empire, the idea of terrorist attacks coming to an end is fantasy. They already have a new government. Why are we having our soldiers killed?

Also good job for President Anti-War! We can really tell!

At this point, probably to save face.
Nobody “up there” wants to be responsible for “losing” in Afghanistan.
Plus I’m sure there’s lots of money to be made through government contracts.
If all congressmen had their sons serving there, you can bet your ass this war would have been over 10 years ago.

    Ummmm……..

    Because?

I think that we missed the perfect opportunity to declare victory after kill OBL. But, as a civilian contractor in the “stan” told me (he’s teaching logistics to the Afghanis, quote “I’m teaching tribal thieves to be better thieves.”) there’s big money for the powers that be in Afghanistan.

If you’re not part of the solution, there’s money to be made perpetuating the problem.
