“Gun Death” Bathroom Etiquette

This is an interesting story:

A Long Island woman collapsed and died in a Bay Shore health club’s bathroom because a male employee refused to enter the women’s locker room to try to save her, a lawsuit claims.

Emily Hamlin, 22, was in a ladies’-room stall at Planet Fitness on Route 27 during an early-morning workout when another gym member heard her drop to the floor, the legal papers say….“He said he didn’t know what to do and that he wasn’t allowed to go into the ladies’ bathroom,” Dick said in her sworn affidavit.

This is one of those “Damned if you do, Damned if you Don’t” scenarios. If the woman had simply slipped, and the man opened the door, he could be fired, or sued for offending her honor, now he’s being sued for essentially following the rules.

No matter what, not a “gun death”!

  1. Bob S. says:

Will any of the liberals who have pushed sexual harassment laws to the extreme step up and take responsibility for this?

Will any of the other patrons in the gym; including the woman who found her take responsibility for not calling for medical assistance?

Probably not, not. No it will be the fault of the male employee who followed company policy ( and if you don’t think there isn’t a policy about males in female locker rooms, you are crazy) — and modern sensibilities. Look at how many times people are told simply ‘call 911, don’t get involved’.
Damned if you do and damned if you don’t is exactly right.
