“Gun Death” Family Lost

No violence, but a horrible tragedy.

A couple drowned and their 16-year-old son is missing after trying to save their dog from being swept into the ocean, California authorities say.

The dog chased a stick into the surf in Big Lagoon and was pulled out to sea by 10ft-high waves (3m), the Associated Press reported.

The boy ran in after the dog, followed by his parents. Humboldt County sheriff’s office rescuers found the parents’ bodies later.

The dog swam to shore on its own.

A whole family! Where are the calls to close the beaches? This isn’t uncommon as some might think. Every summer when a huge storm comes in, tourists and sight-seers flock to the exposed points on the coast. Almost every year some people get too close and get swept away by the waves. In Maine the coast is all rock, so once they lose their footing they’re quickly dashed to death against the rocks, and sliced to ribbons on the barnacles.

These stories are so common they don’t make anything but the regional news. I’m sure those of you in the sandy-beaches section of the country hear similar stories every year on riptides and undertows. A quick look at the CDC information, drowning is essentially the #1 cause of accidental death for children, yet we let them go to the beach!

Its almost like there is a nanny double-standard!’

  1. Stuart the Viking says:

THATS IT! We must ban THE OCEAN! It’s the only way for our children to be safe!

Saying that we should just restrict our children from swimming in the ocean during a storm is just your racist agenda showing. You repugnicans are all alike with your talking sense, and your racist use of numbers and statistics.
