London Slashing Attack

This is really sad:

According to witnesses the attackers waited at the scene after attacking the soldier with machetes and knives until police arrived, asking for people to take pictures and film them.

One of the men was filmed ranting: “I apologise that women had to witness this today, but in our land, women have to see the same. (…) We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you.”

The man then walks away from the camera back towards the body.

In a picture, published by LiveLeak from the Twitter account of an eyewitness, a woman is seen confronting the alleged attacker, even as he brandishes a knife.

What’s really horrible is this is a SOLDIER who was killed by two men with KNIVES. Why are people trained and entrusted to bear arms disarmed by their governments?

No government anywhere has ever trusted soldiers out on their own with guns. Hell, they don’t even trust them with them on base. All US bases are gun free zones. (Like Fort Hood).

Also, most soldiers don’t have all that much firearm training. Maybe more or less depending on MOS, but they’re not all special forces rangers. Like cops, most just qualify once a year on the range.

Most people in the Air Force only every qualify on the M-4/16 in Basic; few every are required to qualify annually.

My MOS (Aircrew Life Support) was one of maybe a dozen. And that was only because we were required to distribute side arms the pilots would carry in war time. Since we had or would have possession of firearms, we had to be qualified to protect them.
Our range on base was miniscule; probably 16 lanes at most….and rarely used.

I find it strange there is a dichotomy in the government; state governments trust the military when they are off base (Concealed Carry for Military at 18, range qualification waived if evidence of base qual, etc) but the Federal government doesn’t allow firearms on base without being secured in the Armory.

It is part of the bigger issue in Great Britain where they not only distrust soldiers but the all citizens. They discourage self defense also; sad how they want everyone disarmed in that country.

This incident shows many points; knives can be deadly, numbers can overwhelm training, and people aren’t safe anywhere.

It’s not that the ruling junta of Britain doesn’t trust their subjects to defend themselves — they’ve made a deal with the criminals that they will be left alone and the lesser classes will be preyed upon. To that end, it’s necessary to disarm the prey. Also consider that Labour Party internal memos state that their immigration policy was designed to make Britain less British — their self-defense policy is likely focused on the same goal.
