So Starbucks kinda bowed to the anti-gun people wringing their hands about lawful carry.
Now they’re going to have to deal with Vegans.
Brent Caldwell, “a huge fan of Starbucks” in Ferndale, Mich., is using a Change.org petition to ask the ubiquitous Seattle coffee company to offer a dairy-free version of its popular Pumpkin Spice Latte.
“My girlfriend and I will visit our favorite location up to four times a week. We are also both vegan,” Caldwell wrote in his petition. “Normally, this is not a tremendous issue at Starbucks because so many drinks can be made with vegan and dairy-free ingredients, which generally just means using soy milk instead of cow’s milk.
“Sadly, in the case of the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte, this does not hold true,” he said. “There is currently no vegan option for this drink mix, which is a total bummer.”
I have no idea how difficult or easy it would be to accommodate Vegans. I also have no problem with people with a vegan diet (tho the vast majority of vegan PEOPLE I have met have a similar level of preachy misery that anti-gun people have), and I see nothing wrong with giving them options or whole menu selections.
Still The fact that this isn’t one of the vegan Starbucks items, it makes me wonder if the vegan options would simply be unpalatable.
I look forward to seeing Starbucks abandon all personal corporate interests, and work to make their stores in the images of all who protest loud enough.

That is awesome!
Reminds of a Temple Grandin (possibly paraphrase) about how it is the most caring thing to raise cattle as livestock, otherwise they would just be another animal in a zoo for people to look at.
Same can be said for Michael Pollen’s take on agricultural species of plants. The fact that they are useful plants to humans is the exact reason why corn, wheat, apples, oranges, bananas etc are so common world-wide.
Starbucks has an “idea” site, “My Starbucks Idea” (which is actually one of those branded sites run for them by Salesforce.com).
Requests for vegan Starbucks items are one of the big items there. Believe it or not, the single biggest thing seems to be requests for Starbucks to stock almond milk as a non-dairy alternative. Soy isn’t good enough for many people who post on MSI – there are a lot of claims that soy is bad for you and should be avoided.
There was also a big rush of people a few weeks ago demanding that Starbucks ban guns from their stores. Apparently, this was some sort of Facebook prompted campaign or something. Those posts, surprisingly to me, were almost overwhelmingly voted down by the regular users. Seems like there are a lot of folks on MSI who may or may not be gun owners, but are at least capable of thinking and reasoning.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing that!
Yeah we used to keep a jug of Soy Milk in the fridge because we really only consume milk on cereal in the morning (and I personally prefer eggs or leftovers from dinner myself) and the soy milk wouldn’t turn as quickly as the regular stuff does.
Mrs. Weer’d nixed the soy once she got pregnant because it is linked to so many bad things for your health. We’ll simply be buying cow products now, as I suspect little LaWeer’da will be helping our consumption a good deal.
Same thing happened on their FB page. They didn’t mind ‘too much’ the gun guys posting pics of their guns as long as some sort of product went along w/ it. They got real fed up w/ Ladd Everitt spamming every single thread on the page w/ anti-gun messages.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, or missing something (probably the latter), but that sounds like Starbucks’ chosen answer was, “Give them what they want”?
Did nobody tell them that’s a really, really bad idea?
