From Ted Cruz:
Yep, in Massachusetts possession of under and ounce of Marijuana is a non-criminal offense. I still would not posses a small amount of Marijuana or associate with people while they are possessing Marijuana because there is NOTHING stopping the federal government from charging me with serious crimes for that.
Even the administration’s claim that they will not interfere with state policies amounts to NOTHING if the Government goes back on their word and charges me in a court of law. Those crimes are STILL on the books, and just because there is a claim of non-enforcement isn’t a defense if you’re in front of a judge.
Also I love Cruz’s point that Democrats don’t foster debate, they just make declarations. “The Science is Settled” if you will!
And they could chose to selectively enforce it. “Coexist” bumper stickers might get a pass while Gadsden flags may not. Also concerning is that it would only last for the administration. Maybe that’s the idea. Don’t vote for the social concervatives- they’ll start enforcing those drug laws again, because I didn’t bother to actually “change” anything.
