These Are Fun Videos

Love how the gunsmith kinda feels them differently than I might.

And love the reaction from the last one.

Still the last “practical tip” bit is partially bullshit. Unless you keep a shoebox filled with guns by your bedside, you won’t need to do what these guys are doing. They’re doing this for fun and bragging rights, and to make fun videos.

Still there is a solid point that you should know all your go-to guns inside and out, night and day. This is also a good reason to keep your carry and home defense stable trim. There are some folks who carry a different gun every day for variety and style. I tend to pick a couple of good ones for distinct reasons, and then carry those and keep the rest for range time and teaching new shooters.

    Agreed.

I have a 100% CC, and a 100% public OC. There used to be an old saw that stated “familiarity breeds contempt”. I heartily disagree with some people on this matter when it comes to personal defense. I don’t want to think about the manual operation of my “color of the day carry” at 3:00 A.M. I want to keep my ass off of their barbeque. (familiarity)

I still have a few guns that I consider “range only” guns. They are either out of production models that would cause me great dismay to lose; or newer guns that don’t fit my concept of personal defense. These are my pride and joys; pieces of art, and (almost) to a fault, accurate and reliable. (Gramps pre-war model 70 super grade .30 gov’t comes to mind)

Both of my carry pistols are chosen with two criteria: Does it work everytime? Am I familiar enough with the method of operation that I can overcome an unlikely stoppage? (when MOST needed)

Not to start a caliber flame war, but for the curious, my CC is an 8+1 9mm, and my OC is a 12+1 .45 ACP. BUT, I’d rather have a reliable .22 single-action revolver as a bedside gun than the newest “whiz-bang super-killer titan .674” that I have no intention of ever practicing with.

(I blame the internet “tactical operator wannabees”)
