Ruger SR1911 goes Lightweight!

And in a Commander too!

Commander-length light-weight frame, thin grips, single-side safety, and a standard commander guide rod. Right from the factory this gun is nearly identical to my carry gun that I needed to swap some parts on.

I still like the Scandium frame on the Smith better because it is stronger than the more ubiquitous aluminum alloys. Still that rare earth metal, even in the small quantities it takes to make the aluminum alloy Smith uses to get the near-steel strength costs a good bit of money. The Ruger you can probably get a gun brand-new for about what I paid for my well-used gun….plus I paid another $100 for a guide-rod and plug, and some thin grips…

I’m really digging what Ruger is doing these days!
