I’ve seen a TON of these in Lake Champlain, but I’ve never managed to get a hook in one. I’ve given more than a few pat-pats while swimming, they’re pretty low-key fish. They don’t much care for being petted, but then don’t bolt until you have a hand on them. 🙂

I saw that video the other day. I classify these fish as “Creepy.”
Then again, I find most fish to be pretty creepy. Things in the ocean are obviously unnatural.
Taste good? People catch, kill, and release them back into the lake. They’re all over Lake Erie and the only thing we keep from the animal are their ‘lucky stones.’ Inside of their head is a bone with a big L on it. Lucky!

I was hoping to find a YouTube clip of Abbot & Costello’s classic movie Abbot & Costello In the Foreign Legion. In one segment an elderly Bedouin loses his false teeth in an oasis watering hole, and they find their way into a fish’s mouth. Costello battling the fish (which leaps out of the water to snap at baitfish, and sprays Costello with water) is hilarious. When I first saw it as a boy I went into hysterics watching it.
