“Gun Death” Buddhist Monk

This is a really sad story:

Police said just after noon Friday, two suspects robbed an elderly man after pulling him outside his home and beating him senseless with a pipe.

The homeowner was unconscious on his porch for almost 24 hours.

Officers said he finally woke up around 2:30 p.m. Saturday and dragged himself inside to call 911.

“He really doesn`t even have anything to steal. I`m just in shock that this happened,” neighbor Joel Ortiz said.

Joel Ortiz said he knows his neighbor as “Tony,” saying he is a devout Buddhist monk and a good friend.

He was horrified when he found out what happened.

“I did peek in the ambulance as they were fixing to leave,” he said. “I didn’t know it was even going on until I saw the ambulance and stuff here. Black eyes, all his teeth knocked out, beaten badly.”

Sounds like “Tony” was a pacifist and would have simply given up anything the thieves wanted. Looks like what they REALLY wanted was to cave another man’s head in.

It sounds like the monk will make a recovery, but he was already impoverished and cares for abandoned animals on his farm, the medical bills and recovery will likely leave him totally destitute and dependent on his neighbors.

While I support and respect his pacifist religious beliefs, I don’t at all agree with them. When a bad man, or a group of bad men attack and attempt to kill a good man, I don’t think the good man should be harmed.

I would be MUCH happier if this story ended with a “Gun Death” or even a PAIR of “Gun Deaths”. Meanwhile the anti-rights people are fine with this. No guns in anybody’s hands, and a weak old man being beaten nearly to death by some evil young men. This is “Utopia” to them.
