Well Loved

Well Mike W. just put the idiot scratch on his snazzy Dan Wesson 1911, and managed to launch the Recoil plug across the room. Ain’t NO shame in that, Bro! My 5″ Stainless 1911 has a nice solid idiot scratch, I’ve managed to avoid putting the scratch on my Commander. I’ve launched the plug, and fired any tensioned spring out of every gun that can do that. As a matter of fact I was cleaning my stainless 1911, and was putting it back right after getting it all clean and fired the plug into a filthy gritty corner of the armory. My response: “Of course you did, you little bitch!”

Also given that Mike carries his 1911, that’s gonna do a lot more to his gun’s looks than anything else. Carry is ROUGH on a gun. Holster wear, the gun getting bounced against various hard objects.

Newbius says it best about his wife’s new 1911 (click over for great pix)

Launched the plug last night, and have an idiot scratch too. Haven’t even shot the gun yet.

I do not care. Yes, it is a $1000 gun. It is also a tool, not a crystal wine goblet.

Indeed, carry you gun! When they get scratched, dented, scuffed and worn, know that you loved them the way they were meant to be loved!

Well this was also my 1st time ever taking down a 1911* and I had no clue what I was doing.
I took it all down while watching Jersey Shore, then thought “Y’know, I’m not so sure if I remember how all this goes back together.” It’s not too bad once you figure a few things out

*And I’m a Sig guy so I’m used to guns I can field strip and put back together in seconds while beating an angry, poo-flinging monkey with my other hand.

My Les Baer is beat to hell because I have carried it so damn much. Heck, I launced the plug and the firing pin with the spring last weekend. I swear, I have to march across the room chasing springs every time I sit down to clean something.
