More Anti-Gun “Smart Gun” Love

Found this stupidity:

Lemon Squeezer Lies

The “Lemon Squeezer” safety was very popular for small carry revolvers in the 19th and 20th Century. You don’t see much of them anymore. The antis seem to think it’s a conspiracy against “Safe” guns. Certainly this design was difficult for a child to fire, but like all “Safe” designs it likely isn’t impossible. I’d say the big factor for this design disappearing was the invention and widespread use of the pocket holster. Back in those days it was fairly common for somebody to simply drop a small revolver or semi-auto into a coat or pants pocket before going about their business, and back in those days a concealed revolver was no different than a pocket knife.

Of course this is a false dichotomy, as while Smith was making the Safety Hammerless, and the later incarnations, they were making and selling more traditional revolvers without the squeeze safety.

See it was all about Choice. If you were going to pocket carry the gun, or were concerned about small children getting their hands on your bedside revolver, maybe these nice little guns were for you. Still the name “Lemon Squeezer” was not a friendly description. These guns did indeed need a fair amount of pressure to squeeze the backstrap, and then even more pressure to pull the DAO trigger. Some found this to be tedious, and elected to buy guns with exposed hammers and no safety for ease of shooting.

Today is no different, you can buy a S&W M&P with no safety devices besides the internal passive devices that keep the gun safe when properly used, to the same gun that has a manual safety and a magazine disconnect that offers many options for the gun to be inoperable when in the wrong hands.

The choice is all personal preference, but that’s not what the makers of this image are all about. See the anti-gun proponents of “Smart Guns” don’t just want them to be MADE, but MANDATED on everybody buying a gun, and while they appear to praise S&W for making the safety hammerless, there are no proposed “Smart Gun” legislation that would allow a design like this to continue production.

Also the Antis love to say the NRA is “Against Smart Guns”, they aren’t. They are all for every gun the industry wants to make being made, they just don’t want laws that ONLY mandate certain guns.

Further, the claim that XYZ gun would “End Child Shootings Tomorrow” is a blatant lie. #1. No technology is foolproof, and further some people become complacent with technology when training and respect are the true solutions, and #2. Anti-Gunners often define “Children” up to the ages of 19-25, because it includes gang killings with stolen or straw-purchased guns. No technology will fix this, this needs to be tackled by law enforcement, culture, and what laws are enforced or not enforced.

I’ll take this moment to get on my soap box and point out that nearly ALL youth shootings are A) Happening in the inner cities of America, and B) Are happening due to some relationship with the trafficking of illegal recreational drugs. We saw a lot of similar shootings, murders, and bombings in relation to the prohibition of alcohol and it’s illegal trafficking by bootleggers, moonshiners, and the Mafia. We don’t see these attacks anymore because of the 21st Amendment.

Maybe we need a 28th Amendment…I’m just saying…

Anti-Gun Lies Go To a New Level

We’ve seen it dozens of times before. An Anti-gun group decides something is horrible, dangerous, and rife with scofflaws so they do an “investigation”.

Remember with Joyce Shill Garen J. Wintemute simply walked around a gun shows and declared whether a sale was legal and which were not?

Or how about when a Boston Globe Reporter attempted to illegally buy a gun in New Hampshire?

Well Bloomberg has been going after online sales that alleged skirt background check laws. It turns out that not only were his findings, like all the others, were spurious, but this case seems directly libelous!

They “estimated” (but failed to prove) that so much as a single firearm was purchased illegally in Vermont as a result of person-to-person sales, despite their outrageous claims that made it seem commonplace.

But it gets worse.

We now know that at least six of the firearm advertisements cited in the report were not from “unlicensed private sellers” as Everytown falsely claims, but from federally licensed firearms dealer Crossfire Arms of Mount Holly, Vermont.

I spoke to Crossfire Arms owner Bobby Richards just a short time ago, and he is understandably livid about Everytown using images of six firearms that he had for sale on Armlist to help falsify the anti-gun group’s dishonest report.

Bloomberg claimed he was selling guns without a background check. Now this is 100% legal between two residents of the State of Vermont, as well as the vast majority of states in the country, but Crossfire Arms is an FFL, meaning all of his sales to private citizens MUST BY LAW go through a background check. So Bloomberg painted owner as committing MULTIPLE Federal Felonies, but felonies that would justify revocation of his license and therefore his livelihood.

This is nothing to take lightly, and he isn’t:

A Rutland County gun dealer said he has retained a Connecticut lawyer to pursue possible claims against a national gun safety group that conducted a recent sting operation for illegal gun purchases in Vermont.

…Richards said he believes Everytown misappropriated his firm’s logo for its report and defamed him as the company’s owner. The pictures of guns with watermarks showing the Mount Holly business could not be found on the website report late this week.

The Everytown report was false by characterizing both Crossfire and Richards “as vehicles for the unlicensed sale of firearms to felons, fugitives from justice, domestic violence abusers, and other unspecified criminals,” a news release said.

Richards said he and Crossfire comply with all federal and state laws pertaining to firearms.

Multiple attempts by the Burlington Free Press to reach an Everytown spokesman on Friday were unsuccessful.

From all I’m seeing, Bloomberg will likely try to settle this out of court, and if Mr. Richards accepts a settlement I’ll be perfectly happy with that, as every dollar he’s paid is a “redistribution of wealth” (I had to) from an evil anti-American organization to a small business owner, as well as dollars Bloomberg won’t have to spend stripping Vermonters or any other US Citizens of their rights.

Best wishes to Mr. Richards and Crossfire Arms. Also if you happen to live in his neck of the woods, send some business his way!

“Gun Death” More NYC Stabbings

Again, NYC, strict gun control:

Police officers trying to save a man who was being stabbed in Brooklyn accidentally shot and killed him, the city’s medical examiner said.

Police say that 51-year-old Rafael Laureano was killed by a bullet fired from a gun belonging to one of the officers responding to the stabbing at an apartment in Midwood Monday evening, police say.

The officers who shot Laureano allegedly saw a suspect stabbing the victim when they arrived and demanded the man drop his knife.

The cops opened fire when he didn’t respond to their commands, fatally hitting both the suspect and Laureano.

hard to say if the police indeed did make it worse. Studies show that stab wounds actually tend to be more deadly than gun shot wounds. Studies also show that NYC police are HORRIBLE shots.

Of course the antis won’t bother with this story, because the attacker only had a knife, and the bullets were carried to the scene by the only people they would allow to carry guns.

Romney Out

Willard Mit Romney is not running!

In 2012 I voted for Gary Johnson, I think he would have made a great President. Still he had NO Chance of winning, and I knew it. I threw my vote away. Why? Simple because a vote for Johnson was as good as a vote for Obama, and knowing Romney, he would have been a WORSE President than Obama.

Yeah, Obama IS HORRIBLE, but he’s lazy, feckless, and proved to be ineffective even with a Democrat Super-Majority behind him. Compare that with Romney, he may be a RINO, but in Massachusetts he was considered an ultra-conservative religious-right radical, and Massachusetts is ALWAYS a Democrat Super-Majority.

Romney had the cards stacked against him in every way, yet he managed to accomplish so many things in Massachusetts while Governor. Of course given that he’s a big-government authoritarian RINO, most of his resume is HORRIBLE for people like me.

Romney was dangerous, and I’m glad he’s out. Still I think this changes NOTHING for 2016. As I talked about here, the GOP is feckless, spineless, and deeply committed to the big government, authoritarian status quoe.

There are a few faces in the 2016 bench I like. I’m a Rand Paul guy, and I like Ted Cruz and Scott Walker well enough, but I just don’t see the GOP having the stones to take a chance on them when Chris Christie and Jeb Bush seem to be the status-quo RINO favorites.

I also see Elizabeth Warren as somebody who will do VERY well in the Democrat primary, and I think she can use Hillary Clinton’s paper-thin heir apparent status as a way to make “Progressives” feel even more “Progressive” about voting for the fake Indian.

She’s not a strong candidate on the national scene, tho…but what does it matter if another Romney-Like GOP candidate is fielded? Romney got STUFFED in 2012, and he had a MUCH easier campaign than will be had for the open seat in 2016. Democrats are GREAT on running against a phantom. The 2008 race was Obama Vs. George W. Bush. Bush wasn’t on the ticket, but “Progressives” aren’t bothered by facts. As stupid as the GOP is, they aren’t THAT stupid to fall for a similar ruse.

Still the more I reflect on this crushing loss ahead, part of me feels VERY good about things.

I was once a Republican, but I have since resigned from the party. I have NO horse in this race, I would vote for a Democrat, Republican, or 3rd Party with equal zeal, if I felt they were best for this country. Still when I get into the voting booth, it doesn’t matter if it’s a national, state, or local election, I vote like a Republican. Why?

Well, while I can talk a long game on how much I hate the GOP, there are several Republicans in every part of local, state, and federal government. I can’t say the same about Democrats.

This isn’t a bad thing for the Democrats, as a matter of fact, just the opposite. I dislike the Democrats on an individual basis for the simple reason that they are a cohesive party. They are ALL “Progressives”, some are more moderate, some are more extreme, and others like Senator Warren, and President Obama, appear to be straight-up Anarchists looking to topple the country because they have grown up hating what America is.

Still they are “Progressives”, all of them.

Meanwhile the Republicans are a splintered rabble of waring factions. We have the Religious right, we have the libertarian-leaning people, we have the Tea Party, and we have the Old Guard Establishment which really only seems to stand for itself.

There are really only two options, a 3rd party Revolt, like when the Republicans took the place of the Whigs as the opposition party to the Democrats, or we can have a platform shift like the Democrats did around the time of the Great Depression, shifting from what was the Conservative party (remember, Republicans are the newer party, and were for crazy liberal ideals like Blacks being people, women being allowed to vote, and other radical ideas) to the more modern iteration which was much more friendly to Socialism and Collectivism.

So first up there will NOT be a 3rd Party in the United States any time soon. Why not? Well look at your local and state Government. I think we can all agree that if a 3rd party is going to kill the GOP the way the GOP killed the Whigs, it would be the Libertarian Party. Can you name a Libertarian who holds a single elective office of consequence?

Sorry that would be step one. When I lived in Maine Angus King was Governor. His party affiliation is “Independent”, but when it comes to voting he’s a hard-line “Progressive” Democrat. That didn’t matter in Maine, he got NOTHING done as Governor, and will most likely see the same results as a Senator. See, even tho he’s “Progressive”, Democrats don’t want to play with him because he’s not one of their own.

The same would happen if by freak chance we elected a Libertarian President, even if this fictional President was more Bob Barr than Gary Johnson, the Republicans who are politically identical to him would treat him no different than a Democrat. Now look at Romney, Christie, and Jeb Bush. They’re all Statist, Collectivist, Authoritarians. They’re essentially moderate “Progressives”, yet Republicans are lining up behind them and cheering them on, even when they have virtually nothing in common. VIRTUALLY nothing, you see the only important factor is that “R” after their names.

So until we start seeing states getting Libertarians in seats of power, we won’t see any viable Libertarians in Federal Elections.

Still we ARE seeing a platform shift, it’s going many different ways, but it’s there. Now that is viable, and frankly I see nothing that will help push this shift more than yet another soft GOP candidate getting their ass kicked by an incompetent, unqualified “Progressive” Democrat.

Gee, now I’m the one sounding like the Anarchist…

George Zimmerman Again Slandered

His latest in a long line of crazy ex girlfriends recants on the assault story:

The most recent event was three weeks ago when he was arrested Jan. 9, accused by Lake Mary police of aggravated-assault.

At 11:30 p.m. four days earlier, an officer heard breaking glass and saw 28-year-old Brittany Brunelle, Zimmerman’s dental hygienist, drive away from their home without turning on her headlights.

When officers pulled her over, she told them that she and Zimmerman had argued about her decision to move out. She and her 5-year-old son had lived with him for about two months, she said.

…She told officers that night that she did not want to prosecute Zimmerman, and after police turned the case over to the State Attorney’s Office, she stuck with that plan.

She refused to appear when prosecutors asked her to come in for an interview, and when they issued a subpoena, she showed up with an attorney and either told them or handed them a statement saying that Zimmerman had not thrown a bottle at her and that she never feared him, according to a Friday statement from the State Attorney’s Office.

Now there really isn’t much to say about this story specifically. His ex was crazy, she lied to police, and no charges will be filed.

What IS worth talking about is how the anti-gun forces handled this story. It was sketchy at best, but it was reported as truth by them. You see justice WAS served when Mr. Zimmerman was acquitted of murder charges for shooting Trayvon Martin. The anti-gun forces and the “Progressive” movement (but I repeat myself) declared this event a murder, and continue to this day to repeat falsehoods about that night. They invested themselves SO HEAVILY that George Zimmerman was a murderer, and also a racist that when the verdict came down they would NOT accept it.

This latest spurious charge was yet another event where they could say “See I Told You So!”…except it wasn’t. Because of this you will NOT see this story on any anti-gun blogs or press releases about this story. Case and point:

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence President Dan Gross stated:

“George Zimmerman is a poster boy for our campaign to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, including domestic abusers. Zimmerman had a gun the night he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, and the State of Florida allowed him to carry it anywhere despite an arrest record and a violent history. He would have been denied a permit in any state where law enforcement has reasonable discretion.

“We applaud the Florida judge’s responsible decision to order George Zimmerman to finally surrender his firearms, although Florida should never have permitted him to carry concealed weapons despite his arrest record and violent history before he shot Trayvon Martin, and even after his subsequent arrests in incidents of reported domestic violence.

George Zimmerman has a clean criminal record, and will get all his guns back now that charges have been dropped. He has no “Violent History”, he has one instance of justifiable self defense where he unfortunately needed to kill his attacker, and several trumped-up charges that were dropped due to lack of evidence.

The “reasonable discretion” Gross speaks of is total ignorance of due process…let that sink in. Again these “Progressives” are not anti-gun they are anti-freedom, and want a police state where the government can strip you of rights and property by simply being a political enemy.

Also note that George Zimmerman is one of these political enemies of the “Progressive” collectives. Yeah he’s a household name, but other than being a political whipping boy, he’s a NOBODY!

Guess who else are as inconsequential as Mr. Zimmerman! ALL OF US!

So yeah, for George, change your name, move out west into the country, get involved in a local Church, and as much as feminine companionship might seem like a comfort to you, you don’t have good taste in women, and I’d say you probably should stay clear of them until you figure out why that is.

“Gun Death” Ice Pick

No actual death, but an interesting story:

Oklahoma City police are investigating an armed robbery overnight.

Officers say a man with an ice pick robbed a Circle K at Northwest 63rd Street and May Avenue around 1 a.m. Investigators said the man claimed to have a gun, but no witnesses saw it.

Now he claimed to have a gun, but didn’t. Still he did have an ice pick on him. Why do you think that is? Do you suspect that maybe if his bluff was called his plan B might involve that pick?

Certainly it makes a fine murder weapon, despite not being “made to kill”.

A Potential Cure for the Peanut Allergy

So here’s a thing I have a lot of mixed feelings about. Peanut allergies.

Now for starters I had a few childhood friends with peanut allergies, and my Aunt is allergic to peanuts. I also have a bunch of friends and relatives who are allergic to various food-stuffs in an Anaphylactic sort of way.

So the fact that my daughter’s school is a nut-free zone (food, not the people, they still let me and LaWeer’da in the door) I have mixed feelings about. Of course since she’s just a toddler, I really makes sense. Little kids get into EVERYTHING, and don’t know any better, so the possibility that a tasty snack might kill them graveyard dead seems a good reason to have a ban.

Still she’s likely going to live a huge portion of her life in “nut free zones”, which does piss me off. A buddy of mine who was a year younger than me, and lived down the street from me had a peanut allergy. Every time he was offered a snack or some food he would instinctual ask “Does this have peanuts in it?”. That was some good parenting. Much like how you keep your finger off the trigger of a gun, even after you’ve removed all ammo from it, and visually and physically inspected it to verify that it is indeed unloaded. You take some extra caution when something could cause you deadly consequences.

Still I see things as if you put too much caution in a controlled environment, you get bad things in the real world. So the kid with a peanut allergy who has been sheltered from nuts through school suddenly goes to the break room at his crappy menial job, and his throat closes up and he dies making minimum wage….

But maybe if the reports are true my daughter might not have to live in this new bubble wrap world:

Seats might be opening up at the peanut-free table; Australian researchers found a possible cure for people with potentially-fatal peanut allergies.

The secret’s in a daily dose of peanut protein powder and the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus. After eating this mixture in increasing amounts for 18 months, 80 percent of the participants in the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute study were able to eat peanuts, reaction-free.

Now this report isn’t 100% percent clear. It uses “reaction free” as the metric. I’d personally be a LOT more liberal about success. See I’m allergic to most fur-bearing mammals (stupid for a guy who works with Mice!), and my wife is allergic to raw tree fruits, but an attack of these allergies is little more than a serious inconvenience, vs a trip to the ER that most people who accidentally eat some trace amounts of peanuts. If some of the subjects get some shortness of breath or some topical itching, I’d still call that a success.

God I hope this treatment works, because a peanut butter sandwich (especially with sriracha!) is a thing of beauty!
