Remember When it was Called “Global Warming”

Interestingly enough, the theory of Evolution, and the theory of Relativity are still under the same name as they were before I was born. But now its “Climate Change” because its DAMN cold!

Bizarre cold-weather phenomena called frost quakes — which generate shaking and ear-splitting sounds likened to exploding bombs — have blasted towns across the Northeast and upper Midwest during this extraordinarily frigid winter.

Thanks to social media reports, researchers have been able to study frost quake reports submitted from Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Canada and talk to those who felt and heard the unsettling booms and shakes.

“Experiencing them is not only incredibly unnerving, but due to snow cover it’s unknown if these loud, house-shaking booms have done any unseen damage,” said Ashley King, of Toronto, who believe she first felt one on Jan. 6.

I live on a lake, and I’m amazed I haven’t felt any of these during the massive cold snaps. I guess my lake is too small!

Wasn’t that long when they told us “Ice” was something you’d only find in your grocer’s freezer section!

Another Good Troll By GunGeek

Not sure if this is real vodka or just water helping the troll. Still I suspect it indeed would work, and make the Ruskies smile.

Still this is my method.

Dan Gross: Brady Half-Truths and Lies

I saw this article by Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign, and was just impressed at how many inaccuracies, lies, and spin were in it. We’ve all know Gross for some time, he makes Republican Mercenary Paul Helmke look like a reasonable guy. Gross is a true fanatic, and while he likely has seen all the facts and data, he’s perfectly willing to piss down our backs and declare it rain!

Buckle up, here we go!

ABC’s 20/20 special on Friday once again demonstrated the most important thing we should know about kids and guns in the home: children know where guns are, when they find those guns they are very likely to handle them, and when they do the consequences are often tragic.

Now I’ll get back to the kids knowing where the guns are, but the idea that kids will handle any gun they find, and the results are often tragic is pure falsehood. Maybe the ultra “Progressive” fanatics that still think the Brady Campaign has any relevance will buy this, but I grew up around guns, and many houses I knew where they were, and neither handled them, nor had tragic results. I was relatively sheltered compared to most of my friends. This is just a straight up lie!

We saw a young child show the camera where his mom’s gun is “hidden.”

Oh no! The HORROR!

Another boy, minutes after being instructed never to touch a gun picks it up and looks down the barrel to see if it’s loaded.

No, it was minutes after a teacher instructing him to play with some “toys” in a toy box. This was the per-ordained end-result.

A father who had been teaching his son to shoot responsibly, wept as he recalled how the boy accidentally shot and killed himself with an unsecure gun.

Yep, a loaded gun left on a bed table. Simply foolish behavior.

Unsafe access to guns in the home is a big part of the problem of gun violence in our nation. In fact it may be the biggest. Every day in our nation eight children and teens are shot unintentionally.

That’s almost 3,000 people? Methinks Gross is dipping into gang shootings to pad his numbers!

Another six teens and young adults take their own lives, many using a parent’s gun.

Suicide is sad and tragic, but it really isn’t a gun issue. The US is one of the best armed nations in the world, and approximately 50% of our suicides of any age are with firearms, but our suicide rate is right in the middle of the pack. That’s a more complicated topic for another day. Still I find this has little connection to the gist of his article, its just supplying more dead bodies for a cause that isn’t really relevant.

The problem may not seem as intense as urban violence, because the deaths are spread out in less densely populated areas where gun ownership rates are highest. But when you look at it on a per capita basis, the statistics become startling. Young people in the most rural counties of the U.S. are as likely to die of a gunshot wound as those living in the most urban.

Nope, they’re not, but you massage those numbers all you want!

Most of the guns behind these tragedies are not purchased or owned with the idea they are going to harm someone.

All of the guns discussed besides the planted guns in the toybox are owned for personal defense. Gun owners aren’t HOPING to ever harm somebody, but that’s what they’re there for. We are no longer a nation of deer and duck hunters when it comes to firearm ownership. Most firearms are now owned for personal protection.

This isn’t a gun issue. It’s a responsibility issue.

But the Brady Campaign and its compatriots focus on banning guns…

In 2000, we started the ASK (Asking Saves Kids) campaign with the American Academy of Pediatrics to encourage parents to start this conversation. It has proven extremely successful, with over 20 million parents asking about guns in homes, beginning to impact attitudes, behaviors and social norms in communities across the country.

I doubt it has been taken that seriously. Still I covered the Ask Campaign when it was first introduced.

As our successful work in this area has already shown, if we can ground our efforts in the universally common goal of child safety, through public health and safety campaigns like the ASK Campaign, we truly can work together across the country and across the political spectrum to address a very big part of the gun violence problem in America.

Brady Campaign success stories are really like French Military victories.

Reality is NOT their friend!

“Gun Death” Mass Transit

“Progressives” REALLY hate these stories because they LOVE Mass Transit no matter how much money they lose, and how many lives they take.

A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Washington over the weekend as he was posing for pictures being taken by his girlfriend, authorities say.

Avert your eyes, for only “Gun Deaths” count. Nothing to see here!

“Gun Death” Safety Harness

Sadly they don’t work well if you don’t use them right:

A civilian volunteer who fell to his death was not properly secured to his harness while he was being lowered from an HH-60G operated by the California Air National Guard. The accident occurred approximately 30 miles east of Visalia, California, Sept. 12, 2013, according to an Air Combat Command Accident Investigation Board report released today.

Very sad, but preventable. Still not a “Gun Death”. Also of note:

The helicopter, working as part of California Joint Task Force Domestic Support counterdrug operations, was participating in the environmental clean-up and restoration of a contaminated marijuana grow site in the Sequoia National Forest.

Another victim of the war on drugs. Can we quit this shit already?

Covered in Every Bio 100 Course

because College professors know that college is really about getting right cocked between classes!

Now if you excuse me, its time to drain out the unnamed gin cocktail I just drank.

What should I name this? Its based on the Singapore Sling. Its essentially 1 part Cherry Brady, 3 parts Gin, a nice squeeze of Lime Juice and some dashes of bitters. Shaken and served in an old fashioned glass on the rocks.

Friggin tasty, but I can’t come up with a name for it. Any suggestions?

Who Ever Thought This Was a Good Idea?

Texas Democrat Wendy Davis is cutting to the right:

Davis has said she supports expanding gun rights in Texas. In a statement to The Associated Press, she said that includes open-carry — a position that puts her at odds with her own party but could keep her from alienating gun rights advocates in a deeply conservative state where the Second Amendment is sacrosanct…

“There is little or no public safety justification for open carry,” said Emmanuel Garcia, spokesman for the Texas Democratic Party.

Kellye Burke, who leads the Texas Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, also opposes Davis’ position. She said the open carry of firearms, whether rifles or pistols, “is meant to be a sign of intimidation. It’s not about protection.”…

Still, gun rights advocates were skeptical. Texas State Rifle Association spokeswoman Alice Tripp noted Davis’ previous calls for more restrictions on gun show sales and past votes against allowing concealed license holders to carry their guns in classrooms and buildings on college campuses.

First up it’s most likely a lie, still what does she plan to gain with this?

John McCain, Mitt Romney, Scott Brown, and the list goes on. You give the people a choice between a fake Democrat, and a real one, they’ll simply vote for the real one, and the actual Conservatives will simply stay home. Why does she think this is different if a Democrat fakes Republican?

Another Joan Peterson Fisk

This latest post from Joan is hardly her most coherent, still the amount of foolish talking points and irony just BEGS a fisk!

We are not having a rational national discussion about the role of guns and the problem of gun violence in America.

Well WE are having lots of conversations about guns and gun violence. Just anti-gun lobbyists such as yourself have recused yourself from this discussion. Joan heavily moderates her comments and routinely bans people for being pro-gun in her comments, and tells others to “Go Away”. She also plays the victim card when pro-gun people attempt to have a discussion with her in person during her public appearances.

And then there’s this!

The article went on to describe a campaign by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America requesting that a billboard advertising an assault rifle, as if it was as American as apple pie and baseball, be taken down.

Yep, no first Amendment to the antis, and further, no discussing the gun issue! Also have a look at the Mom’s link she supplies, it closes with this video:

“No More Silence”….as they’re trying to silence people! Irony is TOTALLY lost to them!

Whenever a national discussion occurs, like it did after the Sandy Hook school shooting that horrified the nation, it becomes irrational in a hurry. The gun rights extremists refuse to contemplate a country where stronger gun laws co-exist with rights to own guns.

I concur with the first part! Hell just look at the bills they always float! After Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Capone, Nelson, and other criminals shot up people with stolen guns, or hired corrupt cops to shoot people with machine guns they made it punitively expensive for the average citizen to own a machine gun. The people they stole, or hired still can have them at market price. Seem rational? After MLK and Kennedy were shot, they passed a law that banned mail order firearms, and licensing of gun dealers…which wouldn’t have slowed down Oswald or Ray. Seem Rational? After Reagan and James Brady were shot, they passed a law requiring background checks for firearms purchases…which Hinkley would have passed. Seem Rational? Later the Brady Campaign pushed a federal “assault weapon” and magazine ban. Brady was shot with a 6-shot .22 Revolver. Seem Rational? Now in the wake of several mass shootings where the firearm was either stolen or legally purchased from an FFL they want to expand background checks to all sales and transfers. Seem Rational?

As for contemplating a country with stronger gun laws, yeah that’s what we’re discussing in these discussions where you don’t want to play, Joan. We talked it over, and we gave it a long hard thought. We aren’t buying it, and we don’t like you laws.

Seems the antis don’t want to contemplate that, certainly they spend an awful lot of time saying “NRA is a Paper Tiger” and “99% of all Gun owners support us!” while they get laughed out of the room by the vast majority of Americans.

Again, Irony totally lost.

A gun nut is someone who reacts poorly to the idea of following the “well-regulated” portion of the Second Amendment. Gun nuts are angry, vitriolic, slightly (or not so slightly) paranoid, and believe the government and liberals are coming to take all their guns. They hoard guns and ammunition, like they are preparing for the zombie apocalypse, and think anyone who supports better gun laws are the zombies.

Well we reject the improper interpretation of “Well Regulated”, can you blame us? Also we’re “paranoid” because we’re concerned about government confiscations? Its happening right now! Its happened in the past, and Joan openly wants it in our future. (again, Irony)

Further, the hoarding of Ammo? I buy my ammo in bulk! Every time I left a gun shop I’d generally have 500 rounds of .22 as well as whatever else I was buying…sometimes I’d just kick the tires of the guns on the racks then walk out with my brick of .22. Now that ammo is REALLY scarce, I’m glad I did that! About 8 years ago I bought a case of large pistol primers. I was kind of reluctant to spend that much money on primers, but it was a mail order and it was the smallest amount that made the Hazardous materials handling fee seem economical. Its been YEARS since I’ve seen a whole case of primers in one spot, and they’re over TWICE the cost.

I hoarded ammo, and it turns out I was right! That’s not “Paranoid” that’s SMART!

You can read the screen shot for yourself but here is the comment in question: ” Evangeline Valhalla. Maybe YOUR kids need to be killed before you understand why we own firearms… it would be well deserved”. Now I ask you if a rational gun owner wrote that comment. I ask you if a rational human being wrote that comment. The word gun nut is used by this writer because stuff like this is just plain nuts. It is also threatening and boorish.

I agree with Joan, that comment IS threatening and boorish, and I don’t stand behind this person. But Joan doesn’t talk about the countless anti-gun people who have suggested that maybe I’d change my tune if MY family was killed. Some of these people are in pretty high places, and you don’t see the antis say “Woah, that’s Boorish, threatening, and irrational!”

One needs to wonder why it’s necessary to lie?

Do you READ your blog, Joan? Hell she even closes with a repetition of “We need to have a discussion”.

Again, Irony, TRUCKloads of it!

Great Video About Buying Guns in Mass

Via ENDO

Smart, funny, and Amazingly 100% factually accurate! The laws are so crazy here I half expected a few misconceptions that are even held by Mass Residents to be in the video. Nope, this is EXACTLY what its like living in Massachusetts!

Also they missed out on the comedy GOLD with the Muzzle Loader. Of course black powder firearms are NOT considered firearms per ATF or Mass State law, so they can be bought and sold like any other widget. But Mass law requires at least an FID to own “Ammunition Components”, so that means you must show a valid permit before you buy a box of ammo in the state. It also means handloaders must show permits to buy powder, brass, bullets, or primers.

For Muzzle Loaders you don’t need a permit to buy the gun, but you DO need a permit to buy the powder, balls, caps, and shot (and probably the wads as well, but I haven’t tried that…I buy most of my reloading gear out of state anyway).

Share this video with everybody you know. Let them know how HORRIBLE it is in this state, and let them know they need to FIGHT because it doesn’t matter WHAT state you live in, the Antis want these laws in your state as well!

Also we need to fight because these laws need to be repealed!
