Another Story of Gun Control

In Boston:

A 9-year-old boy was shot and killed by his 14-year-old brother inside the family’s home in Mattapan today, city officials said this afternoon.

The incident took place at 617 Morton St. shortly before noon. Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans said a third sibling was inside the home at the time of the shooting, while the mother of all three children was “nearby.’’

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Evans called the incident a tragedy. The 14-year-old was stopped by Boston police on Walk Hill Street, still carrying the gun that inflicted the fatal gunshot wound to his brother’s chest,” police said.

Details are VERY light right now on who owned the gun, and if there are any ties to the multiple gangs that infest this section of Boston.

Of course Boston is the #1 most unfriendly town to legal gun ownership, and the most dangerous place in Massachusetts. Mattapan is known to locals as “Murderpan” because of the high crime here. Most notably the 2010 “Mattapan Massacre”.

This story also sounds eerily familiar to the shooting of Liquarry Jefferson. Liquarry is the son of a man who was serving time for gang crimes at the time of his death. He was shot by a gun illegally owned by his half-brother (also a sire of convicted gang criminal) who was serving time for dealing drugs at the time of the shooting. The gun was stashed loaded in the brother’s bedroom where the two children were playing.

The mother was convicted of attempting to cover up the nature of the shooting, but no gun charges were filed, despite her having an illegal gun that was both loaded and unsecured in her home.

I’ll give updates when I find them out about this case, still there are some telling details:

The officials said they did not immediately know why the brothers were not in school today.

Not and indictment, but two school-aged children in a crime ridden neighborhood home on a school day with no given excuse is a bit telling. Further:

Another neighbor, Cosandra Harrigan, 44, said in a telephone interview that there had been numerous shootings in the neighborhood in recent years, including one last summer in front of the house where today’s shooting took place.

“Last summer they had a wild party and somebody got shot in front of the same house, too, and died,’’ Harrigan said. “I’ve been here 17 years and I’ve witnessed a lot of shootings.’’

She added that she herself had lost a family member to gun violence on Morton Street.

This is NOT a good neighborhood, so the chances of this being a street gun is VERY high, also this:

Evans said detectives are trying to determine whose firearm it was and whether the gun was legally licensed to someone with ties to the home.

Given that Massachusetts has mandatory registration of all firearms, it shouldn’t take more than a few hours to run the serial number through the electronic database. I suspect the reason why there is no record is because one doesn’t exist.

And remember even in a state where you need a permit to own a firearm, and that permit is “May Issue” (at least for the LTC permits that cover handguns like this firearm), and all legal sales must be done through the state between two people with valid LTCs you still hear this:

Nelson Martinez said the shooting was a tragic but inevitable result of so many guns in circulation — and the fear that pushes teenagers to buy weapons.

“The sad thing is it’s so easy to get a gun in Boston,” he said. “He didn’t have to look very hard.’’

This is why we can’t give an inch to the antis, for they will ALWAYS wring their hands, even in an anti-gun Utopia like Boston.

“Gun Death” Car

“Progressives” hate comparisons to guns and cars because they HAVE cars!

One person is dead and a group of friends injured after a driver ran them down in the parking lot of a Spring dance hall Friday night…Initial reports said they’d been involved in an argument as they left the bar and that the driver intentionally ran them over and then fled the area.

The car was no less a murder weapon than if the killer had sprayed them with gunfire.

Still with the antis only “Gun Death” counts.

Mark Kelly Selling a Bill of Goods

In Oregon:

Senate Bill 1551 would expand the state’s background-check requirements from licensed dealers and gun shows to all sales expect for those between specific family members. Applications subject to the new law would include garage sales, online sales and sales between friends.

“When dangerous people get guns, we are all vulnerable,” said Capt. Mark Kelly, whose wife former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords nearly died in a 2011 shooting….Sen. Betsey Close, R-Albany, asked Kelly whether the gunman who shot his wife passed a background check.

“Yes, he did. If there were changes in the law in Arizona, he shouldn’t have,” Kelly said. “While mental illness is a component of this, you can’t allow a loophole that you can drive a truck through.”

That liquid down my back, it isn’t rain, is it Mark?

He’s claiming this crappy bill would have stopped what happened to his wife. It wouldn’t have. The killer that day passed a background check. The killer that day was NEVER charged with any of the crimes he was arrested for. The killer that day was never examined by a mental health professional before he went to that mall.

Same goes for the other lunatics who have committed mass murder.

Further the mass shootings are just a drop in the bucket, the real killings are happening in the gang infested streets of this country. These people can’t pass background checks. These people can’t legally buy a gun…yet they do.

We have lots of good laws…just nobody wants to get their hands dirty.

Also have a look at the video of the Hispanic man angry about the Marxist leanings of the gun-grabbers. Something tells me he might be from the same place as Miguel. People who lived under the boots of the hard-line “Progressives” and successfully fled don’t like seeing it follow them!

Several Short Takes on News Stories

First up from the “No Duh” files:

A federal judge in Missouri ruled this week held that drivers have a First Amendment right to flash their headlights to warn other motorists of nearby police and speed traps….A flash of headlights is a common way motorists communicate to oncoming drivers of either a dangerous situation or the presence of police — in essence, a warning to slow down.

An officer saw the flash and pulled over Elli, who could have faced a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted. Elli, was accused of “[f]lashing lights on certain vehicles . . . warning of RADAR ahead,” according to court papers obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

He faced a fine up to $1,000 in addition to points on his license, according to the report.

The city later dropped the charge, but the American Civil Liberties Union sued on Elli’s behalf anyway, claiming the arrest violated his First Amendment right to free speech.

Speed traps are there to enforce traffic laws, and to incentives motorists to obey the law. Flashing lights do the same thing…but without the money and quota points for police.

Good on the ACLU!

Next, play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

Authorities in South Florida say deputies shot a naked man after he attacked a retired police officer and bit another man on the face in Delray Beach….At some point he started fighting an 18-year-old, who defended himself with a box cutter. The man then bit the 18-year-old on the face.

Deputies responded and shot the man, who died at a hospital.

There are things that will naturally shorten your lifespan. Being high, naked and violent is one of them!

Last a more serious story:

Three years after the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry — a tragedy which exposed and ultimately ended Operation Fast and Furious — the public is finally getting a glimpse into Terry’s final moments.

Federal court records released Tuesday provide the first official account of the firefight along the Arizona-Mexico border that killed Terry in December 2010. Among other details, they reveal two of four federal agents at the scene that day actually fired bean bags — not bullets — at a violent drug gang carrying assault rifles. Weapons from the botched anti-gun trafficking program were found at Terry’s murder scene.

Bean bags vs Bullets, and Holder scolds us? The blood is on his hands!

“Gun Death” Chicago

In the utopia of gun control we have another “Gun Death”

Authorities say a suburban Chicago teen confessed to stabbing her 11-year-old sister to death Tuesday morning because she is ‘not thankful.’

Dora Betancourt had as many as 40 stab wounds across her neck, chest and arms, as well as slashes to her face. Her 14-year-old sister reportedly shouted a separate reason at her for each stab wound.

The teenage suspect initially claimed a Hispanic male had broken into their Mundelein, Illinois, home, but she allegedly confessed after police revealed they had found a strand of the killer’s hair in the victim’s hand.

Brutal, but in Chicago it wasn’t a “Gun Death”. Further notice the made-up story to elude the police. Its not the tool, its the person!

Some Global Warming Bullshit Musings

It only took me about two hours to clear my driveway. I have no idea how I got it done so fast with the snow as thick and heavy as it was. Still I’m thankful.

While I was clearing the snow I thought about Global Warming Climate Change, and all the scandal and bullshit. Really Michael Mann should be doing time for defrauding the government with his cooked numbers and bogus graphs.

Still one thing popped into my mind, something you hear old New Englanders talking about: Indian Summer!

An Indian summer is a heat wave that occurs in the autumn. It refers to a period of above-normal temperatures, accompanied by dry and hazy conditions, usually after there has been a killing frost. Depending on latitude and elevation, it can occur in the Northern Hemisphere between late September and mid November, though the term is used as widely as early September through January.

January the term is generally referred to around here as a “January Thaw”, we had a few of those punctuated with BRUTAL subzero temperatures and snow. What we didn’t have was an Indian Summer.

This term is an OLD one, used well before the industrial revolution which is often to blame for “Global Warming” or whatever term is used today. Funny how “Climate Change” was even happening in the 18th Century and even before that….

Seems a Little Silly

CVS to stop selling cigarettes:

CVS, the nation’s second-largest pharmacy chain, said Wednesday that it would stop selling all cigarettes and tobacco products nationwide by October, saying they have no place in a drugstore company that is trying to become more of a health-care provider….”Cigarettes have no place in an environment where health care is being delivered,” said Mr. Merlo, a 58-year-old former pharmacist who became CEO of CVS Caremark in 2011. “This is the right decision at the right time as we evolve from a drugstore into a health-care company.”…”It just doesn’t make sense, if you exist to promote health and you sell one of the major causes of death in the U.S.,” said Otis Brawley, chief medical officer at the American Cancer Society.

Now first up, this is a private company, and I applaud them in taking this stand. Further I will agree with them, smoking is very dangerous, and it causes approximately 440,000 deaths and lots of expensive issues. Still Diabetes and Obesity kill more people, and CVS still sells sweets and junk food.

Again I’m fine with them pulling the smokes, but where does it stop?
