“Gun Death” The Last Soda

The problem with guns is they make petty arguments turn deadly too easily:

The Jersey Journal reports the men were watching a football game in their Fremont Street apartment Sunday night and had been drinking alcohol for several hours when one of them grabbed the soda. The man then became angry when his brother asked him not to drink the soda, and he allegedly hit his brother in the head with a pipe.

The brother that was hit then used a small knife to stab his sibling several times in the chest. But the sibling grabbed the knife and stabbed his brother in the arm before the brother fled on foot.

Yep a pocket knife and a pipe. This was sheer luck this didn’t turn deadly. All over a can of soda! Still it wasn’t a “Gun Death”.

Bad Ruling, and Hopfully a Strong Appeal

Wow, this is just a HORRIBLE ruling!

“The court concludes that the legislation is constitutional,” wrote Senior U.S. District Judge Alfred V. Covello. “While the act burdens the plaintiffs’ Second Amendment rights, it is substantially related to the important governmental interest of public safety and crime control.”…But the judge wrote that the plaintiffs failed to convince him that restrictions on firearms must meet a higher level of scrutiny than a general governmental interest in preserving public safety. Heller guaranteed that individuals cannot be disarmed, not that guns cannot be regulated, he said.

This judge should be ashamed of himself!

Covello said that gun owners met one legal burden, proving that the Connecticut law banned firearms in “common use,” one of the standards established by Heller….”Connecticut has carried its burden of showing a substantial relationship between the ban of certain semiautomatic firearms and LCMs [large-capacity magazines] and the important governmental ‘objectives of protecting police officers and controlling crime.’ ” Covello wrote. “The relationship need not fit perfectly. Obviously, the court cannot foretell how successful the legislation will be in preventing crime. Nevertheless, for the purposes of the court’s inquiry here, Connecticut, in passing the legislation, has drawn reasonable inferences from substantial evidence.”

Gun owners promised to appeal.

I suspect the appeal will be VERY strong. This ruling appears to go directly against Heller, as well as the 2nd Amendment.

Again Overlooking Reality

So the antis are chattering about this story:

According to federal prosecutors, Parks bought three assault rifles from men reselling guns they’d purchased from licensed gun dealers, including Cabela’s. One seller told police he bought the AR-15-style rifle after a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Sandy Hook, Conn. He told investigators he bought the rifle because there would be “none were left in the stores” following the mass slaying.

Sentencing him to eight years in prison Thursday, U.S. District Judge Thomas Zilly said Parks’ conduct “illustrates how easy it is for anyone to buy firearms online or on the street,” according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office statement. Parks remains jailed pending his tranfer to federal prison….

Dressed in green BDUs and a camouflage “boonie” hat, Parks dropped a meth pipe after officers handcuffed him. Police seized the weapons – as well as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicles – but ultimately let Parks go.

So much bullshit! So first they didn’t “Let Parks Go”, he was convicted of a crime and stripped of his legal right to own guns. When he was later caught with illegally acquired guns he is now being sent away for a damn long time. Also I suspect the people who sold him the guns are also in deep trouble.

This is how the system works, and it works well. Nobody was harmed by this guy, and now he’s in prison. Yet the antis want MORE?

Further again the anti-gun people are stepping over dead bodies. They’re concerned with how he got guns…but what about the METH?

During 2010 (the year in which the latest national NVSS mortality data are available), a total of 40,393 drug-induced deaths occurred in the United States.

compared to “Gun Deaths” that’s 10,000 more dead bodies the antis stepped right over to get to their pet issue. Also unlike guns, Meth is 100% illegal to buy, sell, own or produce!

To them only “Gun Deaths” count, and even when a criminal is locked up without ever actually physically hurting somebody, they get all concerned and demand ACTION!

“Images of the Antis” Selfish

A common trope of the anti-freedom crowd is that gun owners are selfish. They have these horrible and dangerous tools, but because we love guns so much we’re willing ignore the deaths.

Namely crap like this:

But I found this very telling graphic:

First up we’ll take the “Facts” at face value (then we’ll look at how legitimate they are). If guns are the THIRD leading cause of death, why are they spending all their time on them? Further we’ll get into how steep the drop off from #1 to #3 is. We’re looking at anti-gun activists stepping over a LOT of bodies before they get to their pet cause. Sounds pretty selfish to me!

I went to the CDC to look at the stats myself. This PDF is the best I could find. First the age groups are <1, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-24 for "Children" (Of course the bulk of that last demographic is legal adulthood) For 0-14 "Homicide" (no separate field for “Gun Death”) is 2nd and 3rd. Also the “Unintentional Injury” is #1 all the way to middle age. From the CDC I found this:

Drowning is a leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, and the highest rates are among children (1). Overall, drowning death rates in the United States have declined in the last decade; however, drowning is the leading cause of injury death among children aged 1–4 years (2,3). In 2001, approximately 3,300 persons died from unintentional drowning in recreational water settings, and an estimated 5,600 were treated in emergency departments

So we’re looking at a LOT of drowning deaths. In my comments I found Linoge did some work with the CDC data:

For 1-4, you are looking at unintentional drowning (22.3%), unintentional motor vehicle traffic (20.8%), unintentional fire/burn (9.9%), homicide unspecified (8.5%), and unintentional suffocation (7.2%). So do you ask about all of the various ways those fatalities can come to pass, or do you exclusively focus on on the 2.3% that die from “homicide firearms”? Is it any wonder we call you “myopic”?

For 5-9, we have unintentional motor vehicle traffic (40.4%), unintentional fire/burn (12.1%), unintentional drowning (10.8%), homicide firearm (4.2%), and unintentional suffocation (3.7%). Again, where do you think your focus should lie?

And finally, for 10-14, we have unintentional motor vehicle traffic (41.8%), homicide firearm (9.2%), suicide suffocation (7.1%), unintentional drowning (6.1%), and unintentional other land transport (4.8%). Firearms finally shoulder their way into the top three, and that vindicates your stupidity, right? Wrong. These children were killed by people wielding firearms, yes, but no mention of the age of the person doing the killing is made, and, unfortunately, this age bracket is where gangs start their recruitment. Unintentional firearm deaths rank in at 1.6%.

So I wonder if in this “1-17” guns really are #3. Further we’re looking at a TEN FOLD difference from #1 to “Gun Death”. Hell various diseases really dwarf injuries of any kind.

Also in the firearms section you see the term “Age Adjusted” in most of the charts. Age adjustment when it comes to 1-17 age just means the data is cooked to make things look a LOT worse. They add more weight to the “Gun Deaths” of the 15-17 demographic because those are the ages more likely to be in a violent criminal lifestyle. The gun seems to be less of a problem than the culture.

So yeah, it likely ISN’T the 3rd leading cause, but even then we’re talking a significant number at #1 (40%) to a tenfold difference at #3 (4%) and well over half of all fatal injuries are ignored before they get to their pet cause.

Pretty brutal stuff there!

SLAYING

Via ENDO:

I wonder if Peirs Morgan gets sick of his ass getting handed to him EVERY time he brings up guns. I’d say he’s doing it for ratings, but he doesn’t have any of those…

Public Psychopathy

Man, have a look at this statement:

[If] the American people, legislators, [and] members of Congress had the ability with me that day – to walk through the classrooms and see the caked blood… if they had seen the crime scene photos of those little angels – I suspect that the outcome of the effort we mounted last year would have been different.

Now of course I hear most of the gun rights advocates rightfully pointing out that if Manchin-Toomey had passed it wouldn’t have stopped any of the subsequent mass shootings, nor would it have stopped any of the previous ones.

Still one thing really burns into my mind: Eric Holder thinks that seeing the images of the Sandy Hook bodies and blood would have changed the mind of Americans. Meanwhile I’m POSITIVE AG Holder has seen the bodies and the blood, both of Mexican citizens, and American Boarder Agents that directly relates to guns given to KNOWN CRIMINALS under his watch.

Now we all know that we have NOTHING to do with Sandy Hook, or other criminal shootings. My guns killed no children, I have committed no crimes. Further Nancy Lanza committed no crimes. She was murdered by a sick child who stole her guns. While we could do the Monday Morning Quarterback thing and say maybe she should have gotten rid of her guns when she knew her child was showing signs of severe mental illness, I don’t think that’s fair. I’ve seen little evidence her son showed signs any different than thousands of other people who live long lives without hurting anybody.

Still Eric Holder has SOME direct part in Fast and Furious. We don’t know the exact nature of the relationship because he is blocking all inquiry into the operation. Still what we DO know is he had knowledge of the operation, and knows who’s responsible to who ordered ATF and FBI agents to give guns to KNOWN CRIMINALS who then committed acts of murder with those guns.

He KNOWS it was not a “botched sting”, as there was NO attempt by any US Law Enforcement to trace these weapons or in any way attempt to PREVENT murders. The full intent of Fast and Furious was to give guns to known killers in such a way as it appeared they came from US Gun shops, and only trace the guns AFTER they were recovered at mass murders. Many of these crime scenes had body counts much greater than Sandy Hook.

We know he had a part in it, either he was the mastermind of this criminal act, or somebody under him was, or he was ordered to do it by somebody in the White House.

Either way, he has blood on his hands, and he knows it. He has seen all the details, and knows the body counts, and has even sent an “apology” to family members of lost American Citizens, and all of this he’s still protecting the criminal who is behind all of this.

I got thinking about what kind of man would say thing while being behind such a horrible thing. I got thinking about Psychopaths:

The Hare Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) is the psychological assessment most commonly used to rate psychopathy.[1] It is a 20-item inventory of perceived personality traits and recorded behaviors, intended to be completed on the basis of a semi-structured interview along with a review of ‘collateral information’ such as official records….

The PCL-R is used for indicating a dimensional score, or a categorical diagnosis, of psychopathy for clinical, legal or research purposes.[6] It is rated by a mental health professional (such as a psychologist or other professional trained in the field of mental health, psychology, or psychiatry), using 20 items. Each of the items in the PCL-R is scored on a three-point scale according to specific criteria through file information and a semi-structured interview. A value of 0 is assigned if the item does not apply, 1 if it applies somewhat, and 2 if it fully applies. In addition to lifestyle and criminal behavior the checklist assesses:

glib and superficial charm,
grandiosity
need for stimulation
pathological lying
cunning and manipulating,
lack of remorse
callousness
poor behavioral controls
impulsiveness
irresponsibility
denial
parasitic lifestyle
sexual promiscuity
early behavior problems
lack of realistic long-term goals
failure to accept responsibility for own actions
many short-term marital relationships
juvenile delinquency
revocation of conditional release
criminal versatility

Now some of these items I could no way know about AG Holder, like his sexual history or his long-term goals, or his behavior as a youth.

Still many of these items are VERY well documented. I’d say all politicians need to be charming, and manipulative. Most of them (especially at cabinet level) are living a parasitic lifestyle. Of course we’re seeing Denial and lack of remorse, and pathological lying.

I really think only a Psychopath could have said what AG holder said, all while being a key player in Fast and Furious.

And of course he thinks WE should feel some shame or remorse…so disgusting!

“Gun Death” Mass Stabbing

In NYC, they seem to have a stabbing problem:

A spate of bloody stabbings left six people wounded, including a woman, across the city early Sunday morning, cops said.

A 43-year-old-woman was stabbed multiple times while in a bus stop at Sutphin Blvd. and Rockaway Blvd. in South Jamaica, Queens, around 6:20 a.m., cops said.

The woman, who told cops she didn’t know her assailant, was waiting for the Q7 bus when she was stabbed multiple times. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was expected to survive.

Her stabbing came about two hours after a man in his 20s was stabbed in the back on a subway platform in Woodhaven, Queens, around 4 a.m., cops said.

The man got into a verbal dispute with two other men on the J train and was stabbed after getting off the train at the Woodhaven Blvd. station, cops said.

His stabbing followed a Midtown melee at W. 46th St. near 11th Ave. where three men leaving a club were stabbed around 3:30 a.m., cops said.

Cops said the Long Island men had just left Hudson Terrace on W. 46th St. when they were attacked by seven men who got out of a vehicle.

A sixth person was critically wounded when he was stabbed in the neck at Hillside Ave. and Sutphin Blvd. around 3:30 a.m., police said.

The man, who’s in his 30s, was found with a stab wound to the neck and was taken to an area hospital where he was clinging to life early Sunday morning. Cops had made no arrests.

Total brutality. You don’t see this level of knife stabbing in free states. You don’t see this level of VIOLENCE in free states.

Really puts some Irony into the name of the SAFE act, doesn’t it?

Dumb Hit Piece

Man, Squirrel Report fan Amanda is apparently going to be cut into this tripe:

See more US News from ABC|ABC World News

Again with that old piece where they teach kids gun safety, and then hide guns in a toy box and AMAZINGLY the kids first think its a toy!

As foolish as it would be for the teacher to leave a gun untended in an unlocked drawer in her desk, they wouldn’t have hid it THERE because then there wouldn’t be any footage for them to wring their hands with it.

Also good trigger discipline with the kids. I distinctly remember my Great Grandfather letting me carry his .22 rifle on a woods walk when I was about those kids age. My Grandfather never told me it was a real gun, and I assumed it was a toy. No ammo, and my overall impression was it was a shitty toy because it was heavy and the trigger didn’t do anything when you pulled it because the striker was down.

These kids didn’t even touch the trigger on that Raven POS.
