“Gun Death” Driveway Accident

This is a REALLY sad one:

A 32-year-old Louisiana father accidentally backed his Ford F-250 truck over his 4-year-old son Wednesday, crushing the boy….While on his way, Huynh was pulled over by a Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy for speeding. It was then that police and Huynh saw the child had died as a result of his injuries. The incident occurred around noon Jan. 1 in Buras, La.

Man, so the father backed over his son while leaving his home. He put the kid in the truck to take him to the hospital, and in his rush he was pulled over by police, and discovered his son was dead.

I personally wouldn’t have pulled over. I would have called 911 and identified myself and my reasons, but this is all things people need to think about BEFORE they are in full panic mode.

Of course we also need to make great caution when backing out of a driveway to avoid this.

Babies = Tiny Drunks

This is an old philosophy. Still I got thinking of this the other day when my daughter woke from a nap in my arms, puked all over me, gave me a HUGE grin…then fell back alseep.

Mrs. Weer’d found this thread that illustrates it perfectly well!

26 Reasons Kids Are Pretty Much Just Tiny Drunk Adults

Go have a look, and I dare you… I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU not to laugh!

Have You Ever Noticed?

Have You Ever Noticed that there are a handful of rabid and crazy trolls in the blogosphere, and they seem to attack in massive fits and starts.

There are a few I personally watch, mostly because they’ve targeted me with their hate and misery. They go through fits of manic posting, then vanish from the scene completely, only to return in another massive bout to post massive amounts.

Just curious if anybody else noticed this. Seems to point to a chemical imbalance in these trolls.

Quote of the Day: Milquetoast

This is really good take on Harvey Weinstein’s comment about gun ownership as Jews are being marched off to the Death Camps:

He’ll get a fire extinguisher after the house is nearly burnt down. I don’t think he’s really given gun control much thought or he’d have realized that if those in the Warsaw Ghetto could have found 50,000+ guns to arm themselves then they probably would have.

Yep, “Progressives” somehow think a rape victim will be able to waltz into a gun shop, pass a background check, and buy a gun as the rapist is on top of them.

Me? I’ll just carry a gun every day and hope I never have to use it, but know if I DO, I’ll have one close at hand.

“Gun Death” Self Defense

This is a debatable case, but I’m going to call it “Bad Justice” as well as a “Gun Death”.

Kevin Lewis Crouch walked into a tow lot in Northeast Washington on Tuesday afternoon and asked about a green car. But D.C. police said the 22-year-old man quickly pulled a gun on the tow truck driver who was trying to help him and demanded money.

The driver began to run but tripped and fell, police said, and Crouch struck him twice in the head with the butt of his gun. The driver then heaved his wallet against a fence in the lot on Kenilworth Avenue.

As Crouch went to grab the wallet, police said, the driver climbed into his white Isuzu tow truck and then fatally struck his assailant. On Wednesday, the victim of the armed robbery became a criminal suspect, as police charged Corey D. Stoddard, 35, of Northeast Washington, with second-degree murder while armed, his tow truck being the weapon.

Police said that Crouch was dragged along a sidewalk and that authorities found a pellet gun broken into three pieces under his body when they rolled him over to provide first aid. The death was ruled a homicide late Tuesday — the 104th and final slaying in the District last year.

So a motorist was being assisted by a tow truck driver, and the motorist decided to rob the driver. The mugger assaulted the driver as he attempted to escape, and he tossed his wallet to distract the mugger so he could run him down.

Turns out the gun was a pellet gun, still the law says we can assume replica guns are real in the event of an attack, further just because this jerk had his wallet, didn’t mean the threat was over, because now he was a violent man with a wallet AND a gun. While it could be argued that the truck was a means to get away, wreckers are hardly drag racers, so you are still at risk of being shot as you flee. I’ve also talked about the other dangers of giving violent people your wallet here, and I even mentioned a similar tactic of tossing your wallet so you can have the advantage to shoot your attacker.

Hopefully this driver can beat the charges.

Pistol Arm Braces

Interesting video.

These never really interested me until I saw Jeff shooting the Glock. Now I want to see if I can install one on a VZ 61

Yep!

From Mrs. Weer’d:

Here’s something you’ll love: A stay-at-home dad tellin’ life at home like it really is. When Chris Illuminati quit his job to be a full-time SAM father for his baby boy, he decided to chronicle his journey into daddy-domesticity by leaving Post-It Notes around his home as a daily “journal” of the day-to-day endeavors of raising a child. The hilarious, off-the-cuff notes are reminders of what to do and what not to do..

I agree! Go read them for yourself!

Canadian Security is Just as Good as the TSA

Man, security theater all around!

A Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) guard who seized a pipe bomb from a man at Edmonton International Airport tried to give it back to him, CBC News has learned….The device was about 15 centimetres long and five centimetres in diameter with screws at both sides. A three-metre-long fuse ran through the device, which was filled with gunpowder.

RCMP weren’t notified until four days later.

The day Murphy returned from Mexico, he was arrested by a large number of uniformed officers, a SWAT team and bomb-sniffing dogs.

Talk about closing the barn doors after the horses have left! First up they GAVE THE BOMB BACK TO HIM IN HIS CARRY-ON BAG??? Second they arrested him AFTER he had proven he wasn’t malicious with the device?

So much stupid right there!

Sean Penn: The “Progressive” View on Gun Owners

So the world is talking about Sean Penn and his guns:

Anderson Cooper hosted the evening and gave the night’s biggest donation: His auction bid of $1.4 million won a sculpture to be made by artist Jeff Koons from Penn’s 65 discarded firearms.

Sixty-five discarded firearms, you say? What necessitated such a gun dump, you ask?

Apparently the idea to get rid of all of his guns was that of his new girlfriend, South African actress Charlize Theron.

“A strong woman who happens to be from South Africa” convinced Penn to unload his weapons, Penn said at the gala, according to E! Online.

Theron has a tragic history when it comes to gun violence. She was just 17 when her mother shot and killed her father after he reportedly fired his own gun and threatened to kill her.

“Being provoked by this aforementioned strong woman and considering how liberating of bulls**t and ugliness it would be not only get rid of the guns I have in the continental United States but also to destroy them, Jeff Koons and I had a chat the other day,” Penn said. “The highest bidder gets every single one of my guns put in the hands of this iconic artist and sculptor…Koons will decommission [and] render inactive all of my cowardly killing machines.”

OK first up, Penn owns 65 guns? I don’t even think Jay owns that many!

And who is Penn? Why a Marxist “Progressive” with a violent history.

The relationship was marred by violent outbursts against the press, including one incident for which he was arrested for assaulting a photographer on a film set; Penn was sentenced to 60 days in jail in mid-1987, of which he served 33 days.[15] Later in the marriage, Penn was charged with felony domestic assault, a charge for which he pleaded to a misdemeanor.[16] Penn and Madonna divorced in 1989.

Despite these criminal charges that should disqualify him from owning guns, let alone get a may-issue California Carry Permit, he got one!

Penn admitted to using marijuana 20 years ago and had a couple of arrests for assault and driving recklessly, factors that could have disqualified him for a permit for carrying a concealed weapon. In this case, however, Penn got FBI and state Department of Justice clearance and completed firearms training early last year.

Then, earlier this month, someone stole Penn’s car with the guns inside while Penn was at a Berkeley restaurant. The car was recovered — but the guns are still out there.

You see rich “Progressives” live under different standards than us plebeians!

Still the greater points besides his apparent criminal ownership of guns, and negligence by the FBI clearing him.

Charlize Theron is so low down that she’d let Penn chuck his meat in her?

Of course I guess her shitty family life might be to blame….but she appears to have some issues, as her Mom saved her life with a gun…so she hates guns???

Also by Penn describing guns as “cowardly killing machines”, is he calling his girlfriend’s heroic and hard-luck Mom a coward???

This story would be good if I actually belied that violent and hateful Penn was destroying ALL his guns, but he’ll probably keep a few to do something stupid.

Still “cowardly killing machines”, yet Penn just beats people up, and hasn’t killed anybody…but he is a coward.

The big takeaway is that “Progressives” always claim that gun owners are violent cowards itching to harm innocent people with their guns. This is ONLY true if the gun owner himself is a “Progressive”.

Empty Threat

So this little comment is getting a lot of talk:

Movie producer Harvey Weinstein announced for the first time on Howard Stern’s radio show that he is making a full feature drama to try to destroy the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Stern asked Mr. Weinstein on Wednesday whether he owned a gun. The Hollywood heavyweight replied that he did not and never would. “I don’t think we need guns in this country. And I hate it,” the producer said. “I think the NRA is a disaster area.”

Mr. Weinstein then revealed his secret project about the gun rights group. “I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard,” he said. “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on. And they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.”

The shock jock asked whether the film was going to be a documentary. Mr. Weinstein said no, that it would be a “big movie like a ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.’”

So Weinstein is going to make a movie that will destroy the NRA? It needs to be a work of fiction, as Bowling For Columbine did little damage and that was BEFORE it spawned dozens of rebuttals in print, blogs, and documentaries. (The best of which is Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man by somebody you might know)

So to make a “Documentary” against the NRA Moore had to lie, and lie hard with hacking up speeches to make different ones, and post-production trickery.

As far as fictitious attacks on the NRA there was the movie “Runaway Jury”. In the book it was a Tobacco lawsuit, but when “The Insider” was produced the studio decided to attack a different “Progressive” Boogie Man, the Gun Industry.

Of course the shadowy organization funding a defense against a shady gun dealer was never named as the NRA or any specific gun maker. Either way it sparked no political action or interest, but it did spawn this tongue-in-cheek blog post.

Last I’ll touch on this:

Mr. Stern pointed out the inconsistencies in Mr. Weinstein’s earlier comments about a project about Jews defending themselves during the Holocaust. The producer replied that the justification for using a gun is “when you’re marching a half of a million people into Auschwitz.”

Mr. Weinstein does not seem to know that the Nazis were able to confiscate the guns that the Jewish people owned based on Germany’s government registry.

Also, the producer said he would have used a gun to stop from going to a concentration camp if he “found a gun, and if that was happening to my people.”

Mr. Weinstein has been watching too many movies if he thinks the good guys find fully loaded firearms in convenient locations to use only when necessary.

Talk about fiction! I’ve had many people not sympathetic or understanding of self defense or the 2nd Amendment ask me why I NEED guns, or a certain type of gun, or why I carry a gun to a certain place, or at all.

While my answer COULD rightfully be “The Second Amendment says nothing about NEED!” I prefer to point out that I don’t NEED any of my guns right now. Which is 100% true. But I point out that it is not unreasonable to think a person WOULD need a gun, be it street crime, home invasion, or the more serious civil unrest by Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Katrina, or the LA Riots, or more sinister things like hostile government, or erroneous SWAT raids.

When those things happen you WILL NOT be able to get a gun unless you already have one, so prospectively speaking I NEED them right now.

Weinstein’s idea that if the forces of evil come after him he’ll magically be able to get a gun, or hire the crack dealers in the ghetto to become his personal Feudal army?

I don’t know if its laughable or just sad.

Either way, my general attitude is “BRING IT ON!” Most movies with pointed political agendas as strong as that do VERY poorly in the box office, and generally the subject matter is so dated that home video sales are even worse.

I just hope that as wealthy as Mr. Weinstein and Ms. Streep are, that they call out to anti-gun groups and “Progressive” PACs to get some additional funding, that way it not only sinks like a stone, but does so with the treasures of the enemies of freedom locked in its hold.

In a day of blogs, and a pro-gun community so willing to discuss the issue, I can’t imagine this being anything but an empty threat from a man who is obviously reality-challenged.
