A New Twist on Obamacare

People have been failing miserably at joining in to public insurance exchanges. But there’s another side:

Think it’s hard to enroll in ObamaCare? Try getting out of it.

Missouri resident Lesli Hill learned the hard way that terminating an Affordable Care Act plan can be far more difficult than navigating the website to buy one. She spent six weeks being bounced from operator to operator, calling the help line, using the online chat, blasting out emails to anyone who would listen, before ultimately driving to Kansas City last week to enlist her insurance company’s help. Only then was she able to break through the bureaucratic logjam, and cancel her policy….Hill’s experience stands as a cautionary tale to anyone who, for whatever reason, is trying to bow out of insurance they purchased on the exchanges. Hill’s troubles started last fall, after the high-risk pool coverage she had was discontinued due to the health law. For lack of options, she went on the exchange and bought a policy with a $950-a-month premium.

She wasn’t thrilled about it, but at least she was covered.

However, shortly afterward Hill, 62, learned she could once again purchase an individual plan — with better benefits — outside the exchange. She checked with Blue Cross Blue Shield in early December and was told she’d have to cancel her ObamaCare plan first.

“At that point, I hadn’t paid my premium … so I thought okay, that’ll be easy to do,” she said.

Ostensibly, yes. She tried using a simple “terminate button” on the website — but it wasn’t working.

Thus started what we’ll call the journey.

Go read the whole thing. This law is a total disaster! Nothing else can be said about it!

More on Anti-Gun Hollywood

Go here to watch the video, I can’t find an embed code.

Stone, who’s no stranger to politically charged films, has just bailed from a biopic about Martin Luther King Jr. after his script rewrite was rejected.

He says on Twitter that “the script dealt w/ issues of adultery, conflicts within the movement, and King’s spiritual transformation into a higher, more radical being.”

But, warns Stone, “I’m told the estate & the ‘respectable’ black community that guard King’s reputation won’t approve it. They suffocate the man & the truth.”…

Weinstein, the veteran film executive, is making no bones about his politics in taking aim at the NRA.

“They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them,” Weinstein told Howard Stern. Doesn’t exactly sound like he’s looking for a fair and balanced approach, does it?

He added: “I don’t think we need guns in this country, and I hate it, and I think the NRA is a disaster area.” The film, “The Senator’s Wife,” will examine NRA lobbying against gun control after Newtown….

Meanwhile, “Lone Survivor,” a stirring drama based on a book by a Navy SEAL whose buddies were killed in a Taliban ambush, has become a hit, prompting some liberal critics to deride it as excessively violent and glorifying war.

The Ivory Tower sees the world a certain way, but the REAL world is the ones that have to see the movies, and it shows.

“Gun Death” Sledding

Man, I did some stupid stuff on a sled as a kid, but thankfully I was never even hurt!

A 16-year-old Minnesota girl has died after a sledding accident as she visited friends on New Year’s Eve.

No details on what happened, but I can think of dozens of ways. We need COMMON SENSE sled control.

Lasers Across the Species!

Interesting to see some of the less advanced animals chasing after the pointer. The puffer fish surprised me, but the spider had me AMAZED!

“Gun Death” The CHOP!

Not a death…but close enough!

A central Indiana woman is accused of holding a man against his will at a house trailer and using a box cutter to cut his penis.

YIKES!!!

I Watched it So You Don’t Have to!

So over at Sebastian’s place we got talking about the anti-gun propaganda in the Lethal Weapon films.

Overall I find the Lethal Weapon movies to be good action comedies, and the irony of an uber-violent film with poor gun handling, glorification of criminals, glorification of cops doing criminal acts, and making MASSIVE profits, the addition of “Progressive” propaganda makes the films that much funnier to me. Because of that Lethal Weapon 3 is the funniest because of its Brady Campaign pushed script.

Still in the comments mentioned above Brad told me that Donner talks about his hatred of gun control, as well as other “Progressive” political views in the comment track, I decided I’d watch it the next time I was tied down with a sleeping baby.

First up, I love commentary tracks, and if you want to watch an action movie, they’re GREAT when a baby is sleeping on you because most of the sound is muted discussion, and any gunfire and explosions will be highly diminished, and won’t disturb sleeping little girls.

Still this track was HORRENDOUS, and I currently have another 20 mins left of it, which I will NOT finish.

Still if you have a copy of the DVD the time codes are 0:20 and 0:35 where the anti-gun blather is spouted. I’ll paraphrase the gist.

Donner claims to be a former NRA member, but he liked the NRA when it was just about hunting. Good for him. He also states that the NRA is peddling “Armor Piercing Ammunition” and “Semi-Automatic weapons that can be easily converted to fully-automatic”. These of course are bullshit talking points. Also he claims his #1 reason for hating the NRA is because “Police hate the NRA”.

Now at the 0:35 mark in the film he notes that he put some anti-NRA posters in the middle of a critical shot so that they couldn’t be cut by the studio. He THEN mentions that he got a lot of angry letters about that FROM COPS!

Ahhh Irony!

Again, if you want to watch these scenes just skip to the marks I mentioned and then turn them off, as the track is terrible, he mostly prattles about inside baseball of directing, and stunt work, much of witch have nothing to do with what’s on screen during the commentary. These inside baseball comments are interesting when you’re hearing it from a great director. Donner is a GOOD director, but not a GREAT one, so everything he espouses is how to make a popcorn movie, not film.

So there you have it!

Quote of the Day: L. Neil Smith

This is a really good essay, go read the whole thing. Its short. Still I think the opening line is the best one:

When I was a kid, about a thousand years ago, I made a terrible vow never to forget what it was like, having your life—your body, your belongings, everything about you—controlled by another human being. That, more than anything else, is probably what made me a libertarian.

I’ve known some people who longed for their childhood. No responsibilities, no job to do, no chores, no need to procure the necessities of survival.

I’m not one of those people. Every year of my life is essentially better than the previous one. Sure there are rough patches, and years that are harder than others, but I’m an adult and the master of my own destiny. You can’t beat that!

While she doesn’t understand me yet, I’m constantly telling my daughter how much better and better things will get. Even now as a happy smiling baby, she’ll get more and more experiences, and tho those things can cause more pain and strife than simply playing with toys and enjoying long naps, the joys will get even more intense.

Hell as happy as she is playing and laughing, she can’t beat the joy I’m feeling playing with my little girl in a house I own, earned from years of hard work and determination.

The Nanny State simply promises you will have a more child-like existance, and while that appears to some more feeble-minded folk, I reject it!

Images Of The Antis: False Reality

This is really how they see it:

Even in the worst parts of America there isn’t THAT much wide-spread violence. Hell even in most war zones there aren’t that many stray bullets.

Still they need to peddle this false narrative because their business is selling fear.

Its irrational fear, but that’s what pushes their agenda!
