Another Reason to Oppose “Universal Background Checks”

When the ATF can close down a gun shop for “undisclosed reasons”:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives revoked the license of Riverview Gun Sales in East Windsor in December. The agency, which confirmed the revocation to reporters Thursday, didn’t say why.

Authorities raided the store for undisclosed reasons shortly after the December school shootings in which Adam Lanza killed 20 first-graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School….His wife, Shelley Clemens, said Friday that she and her husband still don’t know why the ATF revoked his firearms license. She said the store remains open selling ammunition and other items that aren’t firearms while LaGuercia appeals the revocation.

“They just came in the store after Sandy Hook, raided the store and took away the license,” she said, referring further questions to her husband. LaGuercia, of Agawam, Mass., didn’t return phone messages Friday.

The shop is still open, and given how crazy ammo sales are right now, they weather this part of the storm. Still it sounds like a fishing expedition based solely on politics.

Still without the FFL, there will be no transfers of firearms out of this shop, so no background checks conducted.

If the “Universal law” is passed it means that buying or selling a gun any area could become impossible, and that’s the whole damn point!

Rude Awakening

Mrs. Weer’d woke me up last night because she thought somebody was crying for help. I was hearing it in my sleep so I had an idea what it was sounding like, also we’d been through this before one night when the Coyotes were out in style.

Still I opened the window to get a better listen, and it didn’t quite sound like a coyote.

Yep it was a Red fox vixen attempting to get her sex on. Neat!

“Gun Death” Go Figgure

As reader Wallphone said: “Live by the Grill Die by the Grill”

The second unofficial spokesman for the Heart Attack Grill in downtown Las Vegas has died from an apparent heart attack.

John Alleman suffered a heart attack last week as he waited at the bus stop in front of the restaurant, located inside the Neonopolis at Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Alleman was taken off life support shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, said restaurant owner Jon Basso. He was 52.

Note the CDC leading causes of death, in 2011 there were 597,689 deaths from heart disease, 129,476 from stroke, and 69,071 from diabetes. Suicide makes last place on this list at 38,364, but only half of those are “Gun Deaths”, and even total “Gun Death” is less than that number.

Oddly there won’t be a protest in front of this restaurant…because only “Gun Death” counts…oh and because “Progressives” enjoy a greasy burger as much as the next guy.

And don’t get me wrong, I love me some greasy burgers too, and if you enjoy them responsibly there isn’t much danger in them.

Interesting New View on Jeff Dunham

I like Jeff Dunham, he’s funny, but he’s not really smart comedy. I listen to the Comedy stations on the Satellite radio, and frankly his stuff is predictable enough that I’m kinda sick of him and have written him off.

Well that may change now that I know that he’s a LOT smarter than his comedy, and likes cars and aircraft.

Listen along on the Adam Carolla Podcast with Jeff Dunham!

“Gun Death” Car Crash

Guns are different than cars because they’re different!

A fatal accident in Live Oak County killed four family members after their SUV crashed into a tree and caught fire early Sunday morning, DPS officials say.

The single vehicle accident happened just before 7 a.m. on U.S. Highway 59, just 12 miles northeast of George West.

According to a DPS report, 22-year-old Joannie Lopez, was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Yukon southwest on U.S. 59 when the car veered to the right and entered a grassy median. The vehicle hit a tree head-on and then caught fire.

The children were 2, 2, and 3, and only the mother was wearing a safetybelt. If only we had more laws!!!

Oh, it was illegal what she did…but she did it anyway! Maybe we need MORE LAWS to prevent this! Is it not illegal to drive off the road and hit trees in Texas? Call your legislators!

Trifecta on the Chicago Flash Mob

Why would you need a gun?

We don’t have a gun problem, we have a criminal problem, and a lack of punishment for criminals.

If it Saves Just One Life!

Last night on the Squirrel Report we talked about Diana DeGette’s ignorance of the laws she supports and the items she supported banning which I’m happy to see is getting a good deal of play. Those who support gun control are either ignorant or sinister, and in many cases a healthy dose of both.

Still Mrs. Weer’d and I were just talking about THIS gaffe:

Saying “You might be dead anyway” in response to people wanting guns for self protection. Mrs. Weer’d noted that they seem to only care about saving “Just one life” when it goes towards something THEY personally favor.

Of course we take it one step further looking at the work of Professor Gary Kleck, and data collected by the FBI, not only do guns save lives, but the lives saved are GREATER than the lives lost.

Just like “Gun Death” this is just one of their adjusted metrics that they skew to only go one way, as they ignore what they CLAIM to care about.

“Gun Death” Stabbing

It wasn’t a shooting!

One teen was stabbed to death and a second suffered stab wounds to his face early Saturday after a party at a Bellingham home, police said.

Officers later arrested the suspect following a short foot chase when he returned to the stabbing scene, covered in mud and blood.

Police first learned of the double stabbing at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday when they were called to St. Joseph Medical Center, where the two victims were brought by a private vehicle, said Mark Young of the Bellingham police.

Now if this had been a shooting, all the antis would be talking about this horrible tragedy. Since it was a stabbing, well it isn’t worth their time! Only “Gun Death” counts for the gouls!
