“Gun Death” Cleric

This one also earns the bad justice tag.

Online activists in Saudi Arabia are calling for harsher punishments for child abuse after reports that a prominent cleric received only a light sentence after confessing to the beating death of his 5-year-old daughter….Saudi media say he was freed last week after serving a short prison term and agreeing to pay $50,000 in “blood money” to avoid a possible death sentence.

Super classy, commit a murder of a child and simply buy your way out. I guess its better than in this country where all they need to do is multiple plea bargains to get a lax sentence.

We need CRIMINAL control, not GUN control.

My Baby is Blurry

So you all probably know now that the lovely Mrs. Weer’d is with child, and that is in part a reason why this blog hasn’t been getting the usual attention.

So here are the first pix of the Weerdling.

Weerdling1

Weerdling2

Man, I hope this baby gets less blurry as time goes on, as the future grandparents don’t have the best eyesight in the world, and such a blurry baby might make things problematic!

Yeah we’re super thrilled and excited, and thanks to all who have given me well-wishes!

Anti-Freedom

The Constitution doesn’t apply to you!

**UPDATE** They don’t respect the 1st Amendment either!

Anti-Freedom, not anti-gun. They’re banning and proposing confiscation of guns right now because its in the Constitution, they’ll check the other Amendments off the list when they get around to it!

Two Gun Stories

So we have one story of a murder in Florida:

According to a report from The Florida Times-Union, police said a 22-year-old Florida woman has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend outside a Florida post office on Sunday.

Post Offices are Federal Buildings, so carrying a gun into the Post Office is a felony, meaning if the victim was armed, the gun was locked safely in his car at best. I wonder if the killer knew this or it was just a coincidence?

Now from Wisconsin where their newly minted concealed carry law is paying off:

Charlie Blackmore was driving home from work at 4:00 a.m. along Lincoln Avenue when he saw something on the sidewalk. Blackmore didn’t realize it was a woman on the ground being kicked in the head and stomach until he got closer.

That’s when he jumped out of his car and sprung into action.

“I said ‘stop’ and he starts coming towards me and that`s when I drew on him. He started getting closer and I said ‘get down on the ground,’” Blackmore said.

Blackmore held his gun on the suspect and called West Allis police. He says several times while waiting for police to arrive, the attacker moved toward him.

“I mean I’ve already made it up in mind that if he came at me I was going to have to take him down and I told him that. I warned him multiple times not to come towards me because he was a big guy and I wasn’t playing around and he didn’t seem like he was playing around,” Blackmore said.

Blackmore says police eventually showed up and had to force the suspect to the ground. They then asked to see Blackmore’s concealed carry permit.

Jay has more on the story. Also Jay’s pissed they demanded the carry permit from the intervening Marine. I’m fine with this, the Police are doing their job, and the Marine was carrying legally, and they only did this after the suspect was under arrest.

What I want to focus on is anti-freedom activists like Joan Peterson talked about how horrible Wisconsin is for allowing their citizens carrying guns. Note that Wisconsin did have open carry, but in cold weather, like it is now, open carry is VERY difficult.

The antis would rather this Marine have been unarmed in this intervention, because the safety of rapists is more important to them!

Again, Gun Free Zones Kill

Police have released an analysis of the New Town Shooting:

Sources said that Lanza’s shooting spree lasted less than five minutes and that he fired 152 bullets while making his way through two classrooms in the elementary school. Lanza had hundreds more rounds of ammunition either on him or in the car that he drove to the school….Lanza used a Bushmaster AR-15 semiautomatic rifle to shoot his victims and a pistol to kill himself.

Lanza shot his way into the school through the glass windows at the front entrance and turned left toward the first-grade classrooms. He almost immediately encountered Principal Dawn Hochsprung and school psychologist Mary Scherlach, who ran into the hallway from a meeting room, which would have been on Lanza’s right. He shot them both to death immediately.

Sources said that the two teachers who were injured were hit by ricochet bullets from that initial burst of gunfire. One teacher was in the meeting room with Hochsprung and Scherlach and was hit in the leg and crawled back into the room and called 911. The second teacher was closing the door to her classroom much farther down the hallway, where Lanza never went, when she was hit in the foot.

Lanza bypassed the first classroom that belonged to Kaitlin Roig, who had closed her door when she heard the original shots fired at the front door. Sources said that Sandy Hook Elementary had only weeks earlier had a lockdown drill and that Roig had not taken down the piece of black construction paper that teachers are instructed to place over the small window in the classroom doors so that no one can look in.

Sounds like he took the path of least resistance to shoot the most people, until police arrived, when he killed himself with ammo to spare. No word on the capacity of the magazines, but that wouldn’t have made much of a difference. His first encounter was the principal, who was unarmed and an easy target. If she had been armed and prepared I doubt we’d ever hear about this story except on gun blogs.

We need to end these state-mandated shooting galleries for lunatics.

Something I’ve Never Seen Before

A Calico Lobster!

So you think blue lobsters are rare? The New England Aquarium is holding a lobster that’s way rarer than that.

The aquarium in Boston says it has a calico lobster that could be a 1-in-30 million find.

The lobster is dark with bright orange and yellow spots. It was caught off Winter Harbor, Maine, and is being held at the New England Aquarium for the Biomes Marine Biology Center, a science center in Rhode Island.

Aquarium spokesman Tony Lacasse says calico lobsters are quite rare.

Well, while the blue lobsters are rare in the wild, there are several outfits that breed them for display and study. I’ve seen orange lobsters, and I’ve seen a few of the half-and-half morphs as well, I’ve NEVER seen a Calico, pretty cool looking! Follow the links for pictures!

BTW unless the lobster is albino, all lobsters cook down red!

“Gun Death” Tall Building

Sadly not a suicide:

A Bronx teenager has been arrested and accused of tossing a 9-year-old boy off the roof of a five-story building.

The victim was discovered late Friday lying unconscious near the building in the Morris Heights neighborhood. He was in critical condition at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

We must understand that the regulations for tall buildings differ between urban and rural areas. I propose all multi-story building be built in rural areas where there is less of this problem, and our urban areas make do with ranches and bungalows!

If they want they can go like DC does and just add a bunch of sub-basements to houses too!

IF IT SAVES JUST ONE LIFE!!!1111!! WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!11!!

Lies Vs. Reality

Why, in the 21st Century anybody would think hollow points are “Cop killers” or “armor piercing” is beyond me.
