Are We Really Back to Reefer Madness?

Wow, just saw this video from the US Navy:

Look, I’m no proponent of “Bath Salts”, and frankly the only reason why people do that crap is because its one way to keep ahead of drug possession laws and testing.

Really this screams of this:

Honestly I don’t know much about the effects of this family of drugs (also given the rapid changes in formulation to evade the law, possibly nobody else does either), but videos like this make me scratch my head and have serious doubts.

Also what’s the DOCTOR on? He kinda creeps me out too!

This is yet another event of unintended consequences from the “War on Drugs”. In college I knew a guy who had a pretty serious drug problem, and this problem led him to get arrested and put on parole. While on parole he was regularly drug tested, and being a guy who didn’t like to go very long without SOMETHING in his system, he turned to alternatives that wouldn’t show up in tests. He told me he had taken Robitussin for hallucinogenic effects, and described the resultant experience as “Not Worth It”.

Still this crap along with “Bath Salts” and “Spice” are popular because they sidestep around laws and testing kits.

Can we please end this horrible foolishness? People want to take drugs, and they want to take them so badly they risk prosecution, and death. We really need to re-think these things.

“Gun Death” Over Food

People tell us you don’t need a gun because your property isn’t worth killing over:

A southwest Florida man has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities say he fatally stabbed his roommate for stealing his food.

They also tell us if the bad guys don’t have guns, we don’t need guns. I beg to differ!

Thank God We Didn’t Elect Romney

So on the Squirrel Report I was just about to make a point about Mitt Romney, when Skype went all wonky.

I’ll put it here. First go read this post.

Obama dropped the whole “AKs belong on the battlefield not on the streets” bit while on the campaign trail, and the gun bloggers said that Romney may have won the race…until Romney said this:

Mitt Romney said today he believes new gun legislation is unnecessary and defended an assault-weapons ban he signed into law as Massachusetts governor…As Massachusetts governor in 2004, Romney signed into law an assault weapons ban that was backed by gun owners and gun control advocates. The Massachusetts law banned the AR-15, one of the weapons that police say was used inside the Colorado theater on Friday.

Romney loves gun bans as much as Obama does. The only difference is that if he was President today he’d be leading the charge for gun bans rather than Joe Biden.

Which do you think we have a better chance with?

OK I’m off to bed!

About Private Sale Bans

This is what happens when you ban private sales:

MBTA Transit Police have released photos of two guys they say approached somebody at the Bremen Street entrance to the Airport T stop on Dec. 22 and “offered to sell him a .40 caliber and/or a .380 caliber firearm.”

One is black, about 6’2″ with a Pirates cap, dark parka with a fur-lined hood, jeans and sneakers. The other is Hispanic, 5’6″ to 5’8″ with a small mustache, wearing a blue leather jacket with white stripes down the arms and across the chest with some type of symbol on the upper left chest.

Sale without an LTC, and going through the state gun registry is a felony. Likely these two shining lights are common criminals, and likely the guns are stolen, certainly no laws at all are being followed here.

Hey but these sort of laws work, right?

END THE MADNESS!!!

Not what he meant I suspect:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called for tougher state bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines of ammunition as part of a progressive agenda in a sometimes fiery State of the State speech Wednesday.

“No one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer,” Cuomo said. “End the madness now!

Pretty sure New York already has mag and so-called “Assault Weapon” restrictions, so It seems he’s bloviating against nothing. Still let’s get to that madness! What does it say in the 2nd Amendment about deer hunting? I’m fine with magazine restrictions on hunting, because hunting is a game, and games have rules. If somebody was to be hunting for survival, let them hunt with a minigun for all I care, harvest that meat and get healthy! But for games, have rules. But self defense is NOT a game, and people should be able to defend themselves with the most effective arms available.

Its madness to push new laws restricting ALL sales on deer. Cuomo isn’t talking to the game commission, he’s talking to the state. The reason is that if you make gun ownership about games, games will ALWAYS lose.

Look at Lawn Darts! According to this report they were banned from sale after THREE deaths. More people will be killed in car accidents this weekend than that, but cars aren’t a pastime, they are a way of life. So are guns, guns are for self defense, and defense against tyranny and lawlessness…not for deer. But if we make gun ownership about shooting deer, then it doesn’t matter how many AR-15s are in the field shooting game, one criminal shooting will be enough to ban them all, as nobody is starving because they didn’t fill their deer tag…and frankly even if they were Big Daddy Gov would be willing to exchange a healthy foodstamp card for any scary arms.

But they AREN’T about shooting sports, they’re about defending your life, liberty, and property. That’s what the 2nd Amendment was written about, and that’s how the Supreme Court of the United States recently read it. This is nothing archaic and outdated about this Amendment!

What’s best about this is when you have your rifles and pistols for defense, you might as well have other guns for fun and sport. Yeah I have pistols and rifles for my defense, so who cares if I also have a safe jam-filled with Mosin Nagants for collecting purposes. Who cares if I have a Model 700 for shooting deer, or an Over-Under for Skeet?

One more thing:

The state already has among the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation, and the governor noted that New York passed the nation’s first handgun permit law, in 1911.

That’s called the Sullivan Act, a law written by a criminal designed to protect his fellow underworld denizens. Hang your hat on it buddy. Its tyrant like Sullivan that we own guns.

End the Madness NOW! The 2nd Amendment isn’t about ducks and deer!

“Gun Death” College Lockdown

Mass Killing at a College:

Three people are dead from apparent homicide at Casper College in Casper, Wyoming, The Casper Tribune reports….The AP adds that the suspect used a “sharp-edged weapon” in the killings.

No better argument for guns being allowed on campus could be made. In the land of the disarmed, the nut with the knife is king.
