“Gun Death” “Self Defense”

More Domestic Violence that “Domestic Violence Activist” Joan Peterson won’t care about!

Jurors needed barely two hours to reject a 54-year-old man’s contention that he was acting in self-defense when he fatally stabbed his wife more than 65 times a year ago at their Brooklyn Park home, at one point coming at her from behind and slitting her throat.

Joan’s solution to domestic violence? BAN GUNS!

She’s not crazy at all! NOPE!

Killing the Golden Goose

Just thought I’d butt two stories together. First Legalizing Marijuana in Washington:

The Washington state measure includes a 25% tax imposed when the grower sells marijuana to a processor, again when the processor sells it to a retailer, and a third time when the retailer sells it to a customer.

Supporters estimated it would raise as much as $500 million for the state — a figure analysts say is overstated.

“Overstated”? Why would they think that? Oh yeah!

John Chambers, head investigator for the Illinois Department of Revenue, says cigarette smuggling now rivals illegal drug smuggling, and street gangs are getting involved.

“Keep in mind this is very similar to drug activity, smuggling drugs, and there could be concealed compartments, false floors in the bed of a truck, much like drugs, all packed with cigarettes,” Chambers said.

With Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois taxes all included, smokers now pay $4.66 a pack in taxes in Chicago. That’s the second-highest cigarette tax in the nation, trailing only New York City at $5.85. People looking to make quick cash don’t need to travel far to buy cheap cigarettes. Indiana’s tax is just $0.995 a pack, and Missouri’s tax is the lowest in the country at just $0.17. Chambers says cigarette smuggling is now as lucrative as drug smuggling, with much lower penalties.

Right now recreational marijuana is a total loss to the public coffers. The sale isn’t taxed, and further tax monies are used to arrest, prosecute, and punish people engaged in the trade. The obvious solution is legalize it and tax it…PROFIT!

Only when you pile the taxes to the skies, while the illegal pipeline still exists, people will just keep buying form the black market. You have a golden goose there, but you’re just slaughtering it, and rather than golden eggs, you’re getting goose meat.

Good Job guys!

Smart Move!

The Zero Has the Solution!

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, renewable fuel producers in Iowa have asked the Obama administration to allow higher amounts of ethanol to be blended in gasoline in the Northeast.

In a letter yesterday to President Obama, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association said temporarily allowing up to 20 percent ethanol in gasoline would help lower gas prices for victims of the superstorm. The association urged the administration to waive requirements that gasoline retailers must comply with before selling the higher blends of ethanol.

I think I’ve told the story before, but I’d done the walk of shame before. OK not the walking home from a hookup’s apartment at 5am before she wakes up, but the one with a jerry can in hand to a stalled vehicle with a dry fuel tank. Why? Well I’ll start by saying my 2001 Ford Ranger had a fuel gauge that never worked right. Everything else worked like a Swiss watch, so if I just watched my mileage the little arrow could sit on the “E” for damn near 100 miles before I had to fill up with no ill effects. I generally would fill my ride when I had about 2 gallons left in the hopper.

Then I moved from Maine to Massachusetts, and I ran out of gas! Why? Well Massachusetts mandates 10% Ethanol in all pump gas. My Mileage tanked, and my fuel line ran dry. Thankfully I was only about 200 yards from a gas station I drove right past because their prices were horrible, and there was a cheaper station just up the road a few miles which I would have gotten to with go-juice to spare…had I been running on the good stuff.

Why did this happen? Well #1 I hadn’t learned to look for that “Contains Ethanol” sticker on the pumps, and the big #2, Garbage Gas costs the same as good gas. Actually the Ethanol blends cost MORE, but they skim a good bit of that price right out of my taxes, weather I drive or not.

Love this stupid ideology that somehow this crap is “Better”. It isn’t better gas, as my truck went from getting north of 20mpg to around 17mpg. It isn’t as good for your engine. It isn’t cheaper. As a lighter fuel it probably does burn a bit cleaner…but when the “Progressives” are fixated on Carbon Dioxide, and carbon bonds are carbon bonds. Moving a pickup truck 300 miles on single-bonded carbon chains will release the same amount of CO2 if its Gasoline, Ethanol, Kerosine, or propane.

Just you pay more, both in taxes, and in fill-ups (further more that taxes are per-gallon, and if it takes more juice to go the same distance you’re paying a LOT more), I’m sure the people in the storm-ravaged areas are really pleased with this!

Should Have Stocked Up On Guns!

Police Force gets cut. What happens?

A Detroit suburb that was forced to lay off half its police department has seen a spike in violent crime, MyFoxDetroit.com reports.

Since July, when the police force was cut in half, there have been 10 murders in Inkster, a Detroit suburb with a population of about 25,000. There have been 12 murders so far this year.

Violent criminals fear the police. They fear armed citizens more. REFUSE to be a victim, and be safe out there!

Carry your damn guns!

Election’s Over!

FEMA Goes Home!

Victims of an unforgiving one-two punch from superstorm Sandy and a nor’easter that both hit New York’s Staten Island say FEMA has forgotten them.

Already without power for more than a week in the wake of Sandy, hard-hit residents of the borough’s South Shore braved a winter storm Wednesday night, with many — perhaps hundreds — huddling in condemned homes and ignoring orders to evacuate out of fear looters would take what little Mother Nature has left them.

“FEMA packed up everything yesterday and left the area,” said MaryLou Wong, whose home in the Midland Beach neighborhood was destroyed. “They haven’t come back.”

Thanks for your votes, guys! We’re outie!

These Guys Really Are Insane!

Let’s have a look at this Peta Ad:

A billboard that will be placed outside Nevada public schools is sure to make for interesting Thanksgiving dinner conversation, that is, if kids let the turkey make it to the table.

PETA plans to place a billboard that reads, “KIDS: If you wouldn’t eat your dog, why eat a turkey? Go vegan,” with a picture of a dog head on a turkey body, near Reno public schools.

Did they really think this through? Ok let’s try the converse to see if somehow these issues are similar. Would you get a pet turkey? OF COURSE NOT! Turkeys make lousy pets. The wild ones are either skittish or downright aggressive, the domesticated ones are stupid, and again still can be aggressive. They aren’t cute, they aren’t particularly cuddly. Sorry they aren’t at all like dogs.

Now would you EAT your dog? Well President Obama sure did! **snicker** Now if I had a pet dog would I eat it? Probably not, as pets are kept for companionship, not for food. Certainly I wouldn’t mind eating a food dog. You might not be surprised by my header, I’ve raised ducks as a child. Their poop is horrible, but they’re kinda neat pets. I kinda prefer them to be “wild pets”, they swim in the pond, I go and visit them, and they take care of their own food and poop, and I don’t get to pat them as much….fair trade I guess.

You know what else ducks are good for? DUCK MEAT! Duck meat is FANTASTIC, and I eat it every chance I get.

Sorry PETA, you’re full of shit again!

“Gun Death” Mom Car

A sad story

Lee County Sheriff’s officials say a 20-month-old girl is dead after her mother accidentally backed over her with the family car….The newspaper says the child’s 24-year-old mother was backing the car out of the home’s driveway while Meyah and her 5-year-old sibling were playing outside. Investigators believe the toddler saw her mother’s car and walked behind it, unbeknownst to the mother.

Of course when an accident happens with a gun, those who use “Gun Death” to further their agenda break out the dancing shoes. Meanwhile with sad stories like this? NOTHING. Only “Gun Death” counts.

To Be Fair

I guess its not just “Progressives” forming angry mobs:

A protest at the University of Mississippi against the re-election of President Barack Obama grew into crowd of about 400 people with shouted racial slurs as rumors of a riot spread on social media. Two people were arrested on minor charges.

The university said in a statement Wednesday that the gathering at the student union began late Tuesday night with about 30 to 40 students, but grew within 20 minutes as word spread. Some students chanted political slogans while others used derogatory racial statements and profanity, the statement said.

Peckerwoods still exist, and they’re still dangerous.

Of course the “Progressives” do what they’ll do!

About 700 people held up candles outside the administrative building at the University of Mississippi, countering Tuesday’s protest over President Barack Obama’s re-election.

Good job guys! You fixed it!

Toolcraft and Use

Neat article seeing it in the Avian community

A captive-bred Goffin’s cockatoo has surprised researchers by spontaneously making and using “tools” to reach food.

The species is not known to use tools in the wild.

Researchers in Austria recorded the cockatoo – named Figaro – repeatedly breaking off splinters from a wooden beam and using them to reach nuts on the other side of his wire enclosure.

The team believe Figaro’s feat is the first recorded instance of tool-making among parrots….”No-one has ever reported [a parrot] sculpturing a tool out of shapeless wood in order to use it later with great sophistication,” said Professor Alex Kacelnik of Oxford University, an author of the study.

While birds from the corvid family, such as New Caledonian crows, are known to make tools in the wild, this specialised ability is very rarely reported in other bird species.

Researchers were unexpectedly alerted to Figaro’s tool-using ability while he was playing with a pebble and accidentally dropped it out of reach on the other side of his wire mesh enclosure.

After some unsuccessful attempts to reach his toy with his claw, Figaro used a stick from the aviary floor to try to fish for the object, levering it with his beak.

What I want to know is when he builds the perfect splinter-lever from the board, if he saves it for future use. Watch the video, its neat!
