WTF Japan???

So Messed up!

Mao Sugiyama, a self-described “asexual” from Tokyo, cooked up, seasoned and served his own genitalia to five diners at a swanky banquet in Japan last month, Calorie Lab reported….Just days after Sugiyama’s 22nd birthday, the artist underwent elective genital-removal surgery, divvied up the severed penis shaft, testicles, and scrotal skin between five people, and garnished it with button mushrooms and Italian parsley.

On April 13, five of six diners who signed up for the $250-a-plate feast, sat down to dinner. The sixth person was a no-show.

The next day, an organizer posted a blog — subsequently deleted — containing pictures of the event. Images showed dozens of people who attended the event just to catch a glimpse of the rare treat.

The extra diners were served crocodile-based dishes while Sugiyama cooked up the exclusive meal.

If you want to go further down the rabbit hole, there are pictures at the link.

Wow! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Hold My Beer and Watch This!

Save the drinking for AFTER you’re done shooting…and don’t do stupid stuff!

“All three are pretty drunk when someone pulls a .380-caliber, semi-automatic [handgun] and shoots it into the backyard,” Trevino said. “The 17-year-old gets it and tells his girlfriend, ‘Here, look, pull the trigger.'”

When the teen’s girlfriend refused to handle the gun, Torres pulled out the gun’s clip and turned to a butane tank, the Monitor reported.

“He fires one time and shoots himself in the head,” Trevino said, adding that Torres’ family was living in the U.S. illegally.

I wonder how much was legal about ANY of this. Under-age drinking. I doubt that was legal handling of a firearm, not sure if you can even SHOOT for fun in the town. Of course they weren’t in the town, and nation illegal!

Be safe out there!

Good For Them!

I love hearing stories like this.

Detroit is known for cars, Los Angeles for its stars, now small towns in Idaho are trying to become gun towns. But it’s not exactly a return to the Wild West: The goal is to get people working again.

“It’s gonna create some jobs,” says David Brown, mayor of Potlatch, Idaho. “We can stay here, our kids can stay here and live and work.”

Potlatch, in western Idaho, for generations was a mill town. In 1906, it boasted the world’s largest pine saw mill. Its lumber built cities all over the United States. But in 1981, with its mill obsolete, Potlatch Lumber Inc. closed the mill and, with it, the town’s identity.

PNW Arms, a high-tech ammunition company based in Seattle, was recently looking for a new home. Tired of the long drives to the shooting range to test their products and the laundry list of government regulations on weapons makers, PNW Arms settled on Potlatch….About 58 companies that make either guns or ammunition are currently based in Idaho, and government officials throughout the state are targeting more. The Commerce Department calls it ‘Rec-Tech’. The state legislature is gun-friendly, passing a law that shields weapons makers from liability when their products are involved in tragedies. The goal is to poach gun makers from states where the industry is heavily regulated.

There are a TON of big gun companies in shitty states that really take their jobs and revenue for granted. I hope a bunch of them listen. Not only will it give the market cheaper, better guns, but while the pointy-heads in “Progressive” states will still hate guns….but the people who drive by the abandoned factories, and are out of work might figure it out.

So good for them!

Look A Little Further?

Mrs. Weer’d sent me this story on the HORRORS of “Global Warming”.

Vast stores of carbon in U.S. forest soils could be released by rising global temperatures, according to a study by UC Irvine and other researchers in today’s online Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C.

The scientists found that heating soil in Wisconsin and North Carolina woodlands by 10 and 20 degrees increased the release of carbon dioxide by up to eight times. They showed for the first time that most carbon in topsoil is vulnerable to this warming effect.

“We found that decades-old carbon in surface soils is released to the atmosphere faster when temperatures become warmer,” said lead author Francesca Hopkins, a doctoral researcher in UCI’s Earth system science department. “This suggests that soils could accelerate global warming through a vicious cycle in which man-made warming releases carbon from soils to the atmosphere, which, in turn, would warm the planet more.”

Of course what they don’t note that plants growing in said soil are building their mass with this very carbon. This “Carbon” in the soil is simply dead organic matter. Warm and wet conditions breaks down that matter further to the stable form of CO2. There’s a lot of controversy on how much this carbon dioxide has on overall climate, but what they’re missing is how nature swings like a pendulum.

The best example is a Bactria culture. It grows exponentially until its waste products overwhelm the resources, then it starts to die off. A large enough culture plate with means to clear the wastes, and the cycle can start again. Add a species that can use the waste products to produce useful resources and suddenly we have an ecosystem. Another great example are those plants in bell jars. My Grandmother had one for YEARS that I think my Aunt made in High School, and when she went off to college and got her own place, the plant stayed. Its an easy fix, you put it in a sunny window and the sealed jar (in this case it was a 2 Liter soda bottle with the cap sealed) the plant got energy from the sunlight, and plants are able to consume their own wastes, and water would be excreted from the plant, and eventually condense on the jar and runs back into the soil. Eventually the plant will outgrow the container, and die, but the cycle will last for YEARS, if not longer.

Another great example is the rabbits in my town. When we first moved in we had TONS of them. There is an open field near my house, and near sunset you could easily see 20-30 of them, and anywhere you looked there would be a rabbit. Then the hawks showed up. You’d see a few hawks at the top of the tall trees, and occasionally see take down a rabbit. It didn’t take long before seeing a rabbit was a rarity. Now the rabbits are back, and it’ll only be a matter of time before the Hawks return. Rinse and repeat.

I just think nature is far to complicated than to simplify it so much. Of course simple statements like that are good for grant money, so we’ll keep seeing more of them.

“Gun Death” UK

The UK is safe, as they have low “Gun Death”.

A gang of 20 hooded youths stormed a pub after the Champions League final before dragging away a 25-year old man and stabbing him to death in scenes ‘like a horror film’, friends said today.

‘True gent’ Luke Fitzpatrick was killed and his father Bernard, who threw himself on top of his son in a desperate attempt to shield him, remains in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed four times.

Ahh a mass stabbing by an angry mob after a Soccer match! Its really a cliche, but its not “Gun Death” so who cares? UK IS SAFE FROM “Gun DEATH”!!!!

We’re Winning

Japan is an odd place culturally speaking. They have terrible gun laws, and generally the odd parts of it aren’t contested. Such as the good people being disarmed by law…and the Yakuza operate in the open, and are simply assumed to be armed by all.

But Roadkill shared this page from Upotte!! with me.

Essentially the “Girls” in the series are actually “Guns” (how that is isn’t exactly clear to me), but one of the “girls” notes that guns can’t hurt people by themselves, and instead its people who hurt people.

That’s rather a lot coming from Japan!

Re-Run Re: Training

I’ve been reading all these posts on training. I’m sure you’ve read them too.

It reminded me of a post I wrote a few months ago on gun and ammo selection.

Really training isn’t any different. Just like the guy who carries a Glock 20 10mm with 5 20 round magazines isn’t BAD off, the guy with 30 diplomas from various gun schools, and shoots Master at both IDPA and IPSC, isn’t bad off either.

But there are lots of people who MAYBE took an NRA Basic Pistol class and runs a box through their gun every year who have successfully defended their life with it (and further survived all the legal pitfalls that sometimes befall justifiable self defense cases) And of course most people who holster up in the morning will go their entire life never having used it (this goes double when your state or area has a LOT of people who carry…Criminals prefer to work in New York or Chicago, vs. Otter Bend South Dakota Population: 30 people, and 300 sundry firearms)

So train however you feel best about. Training is good, but there is neither a ceiling nor a floor for what is too much or too little.

I will say one thing, be careful out there. Just because training is good, does NOT mean its good to go into credit card dept so you can attend the best training class in the world, or you feel the need to keep 10,000 rounds of quality defensive ammo for every gun you own. Also try not to get hurt, not only does an injury hinder your ability to defend yourself, but a limp or a neck brace might make the local predator think he has an easy meal.

So do what you want, and be safe out there!

Still Spinning

Yet another article the antis are pushing pointing out that JUSTIFIABLE Homicide is on the rise in Florida.

Just go read the article if you want. But there’s stories of bad people doing bad things and getting shot for it. There’s also stories of questionable cases where the killer claimed “Self Defense”, and are being charged with a serious crime (generally murder).

The Bradies are pushing this article because Dan Gross got quoted two knee-jerk lines. (BTW Gross, you shouldn’t be happy about this article. I know you’re an angry crazy gun-grabber, but I’m sure you had more to say than those two lines, and they make you look dumber than you really are)

Again, Justifiable homicide is a GOOD thing. Its innocent people protecting themselves from dangerous ones. Also “Stand Your Ground” and “Castle Doctrine” are not a “License to Murder”, you kill somebody Police are going to give it a solid investigation, simply “Castle Doctrine” and “Stand Your Ground” further defines what must be met for you to be held and charged.

And as Mas Ayoob Said “If they say otherwise they are saying they haven’t read the law.”

GET THE TRAINING YOU NEED!!!

Barron shows how to do an appropriate “New York Reload” with New York Compliant Beverages.

That OE 800 looks pretty good to me, I dunno about you!

“Gun Death” Irony

Occasionally you’ll hear some people from a country with oppressive gun laws say they won’t come to America because they don’t want to get shot.

Authorities say a Pennsylvania woman fatally stabbed two Canadian tourists during a botched robbery in Atlantic City.

Canadian Victim, Pennsylvania robber, in New Jersey.

If only we had a LAW! Still No “Gun Death”!
