Just Give Them What They Want

Well first, giving somebody something because they threatened you with violence simply encourages that behavior. So my overall feelings are use your judgement and whenever possible resist violence.

Still there are times when you have no choice at all.

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — Sheriff’s officials in southwest Florida say a clerk at a 24-hour food store shot and killed a man who tried to rob her and take her 1-year-old daughter.

Store owner Del Ackerman told the Naples Daily News (http://bit.ly/rnKaJe ) his granddaughter shot the man after he stormed into the store Tuesday afternoon and demanded money and grabbed the stroller that held her baby.

We can debate all day long if the money in the register or your wallet is worth taking another person’s life. (Of course if they’re threatening a life they’ve pointed out its WELL worth it to them), but when it comes to somebody taking your child you need to fight or come to terms with the fact that you may never see your child alive again, and that their last moments on Earth will likely be horrible.

If that’s not enough reason to carry ALL THE TIME what is? Somebody tries to take your child SHOOT THE BASTARD!

Now let’s do the score.

One less criminal on the street.

No need for a court trial or penal system.

The local scumbags are going to hear this story and at least a few of them are going to think about it when they attempt to jack a convenience store or ply other criminal trade where armed civilians might be.

Two kids that know for a fact how much Mommy loves them and to what ends she’ll go to keep them safe.

And because they disgust me note that the anti-rights advocates would prefer that this monster abduct the child and do what he will to her. That is what THEY stand for.

Carry your damn guns people.

**Update** According to this story she intentionally shot in him in the knee. It could have been that was the best possible shot and the “Easterly did just as she had been taught — she drew a gun and aimed for the would-be robber’s knee” is just bad reporting. But this is yet another reason to avoid extremity shots. She aimed at a small, easy-to-miss body-part that can move MUCH faster than the torso can…and the man is still dead, even in a major urban area with immediate medical response.

Don’t fuck around people, a gun is a tool for lethal force, aim for the center-of-mass or the largest target presented to you, remember the 4 rules, and keep shooting until the threat is stopped.

Don’t go for “Trick shots” or “Shoot to Wound”, there’s really no place you can shoot a person and both stop them and deal a wound so superficial that they will survive with immediate medical attention.

Also remember that with any gun, but especially a handgun there is also no place where you can place a bullet and expect them to drop graveyard dead 100% of the time. What’s worth shooting once, is worth shooting twice!

Put The Gun Down!

No, this isn’t a post about verbal commands…of those I’m unsure of. Dunno if I’ll be able to find my voice with all the adrenaline, nor do I know if the person I’m commanding understands English or can even hear or understand me.

No I’m talking about something I teach new shooters that I don’t think I’ve mentioned before. Of course its imperative you teach the Four Rules, and rule 5 is a good one, especially with new shooters who might be more afraid of breaking your guns than accidentally hurting somebody.

of course stance, sight alignment and trigger pull are very important too. Still this post from Say Uncle got me thinking.

I shoot a good deal. I’ve been hit with brass from every angle, and I had a scar on my shoulder for several years from a .22 brass that went down my collar and gave me a nice 2nd degree burn! I took a .45 shell to the forehead once mouth-first and it gave me a ring-shaped scab for the next few days. At my indoor range sometimes an ejected shell will hit the ceiling or the target carrier and bounce down onto the crown of your head. Sometimes these things hurt, if you’re not expecting them they can be startling….and when it comes to hot brass caught between clothing and sensitive skin it can be panic inducing.

Make sure to teach a new shooter that brass can do funny things and if you feel a piece hit you, just move on, and if you’re getting burned by brass SET THE GUN DOWN and THEN attend to your injury.

I personally teach it the super-simple way. My club has benches all along the firing line. Just set the gun down. Doesn’t matter if its a rifle, or a 1911, or a Glock. Don’t worry about the safety or rounds in the chamber…just set it down and do what you need to do.

This goes for if you’re tired, need to take a breath, or simply have had all you can take of that gun, or shooting in general.

New shooters need to be kept comfortable. Sometimes that first report rattles them and they start to shake. Have them put the gun down even if its loaded (you taught them the 4 rules for a reason) sometimes they just didn’t like the experience, or decided to shoot another string and half-way through decided they were done.

Just put the gun down! So simple, but to a new shooter they’ll be thinking about so many things, something that basic might elude them.

And certainly if its time to do the hot-brass dance, its safe and fun if there isn’t a loaded gun in your hand while you do your jig of pain.

Remember to teach a new shooter they can safely set the gun down any time, and that if they get hit or hurt by some brass, that would be an ideal time to set the gun down.

It certainly appears Gun Control has become a Extremist ideology.

More Anti-Rights Projection

This one comes from The great Baldr Odinson expressing unity to Joan Peterson’s screeds.

Seems like every month the NRA’s stances get more extreme, and it is reflected in the comments from their most ardent followers and board members who comment at New Trajectory.

I would point out that the NRA is much more of a Centrist organization. They’re a big-tent group that is just following the center as it has moved away from the failed social experiment that is Gun Control. Back in ’94 the NRA was just doing Damage control on the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, and one could say they didn’t really try to hard to avert the ban. But back then most Americans only owned hunting-style firearms, often with wood stocks, and revolvers and smaller-capacity handguns. Very few people had Carry permits, and most states didn’t even allow carry of firearms.

Today most states allow for carry, Several states don’t even require permits to carry, and massive amounts of restrictions have been repealed on the right to keep and bear arms. Furthermore companies like Kahr Arms that make guns SPECIFICALLY for concealed carry (all of their guns are single-stack, and their largest gun is slightly smaller than a commander M1911, and over half their line have lightweight polymer frames) have sprung up, and just about every company has a subcompact .380 Pistol, and many are working for a subcompact 9mm pistol. Also just about every company has an AR-15 pattern rifle, or a rifle that runs off of 5.56x45mm STANAG magazines (Magazines that are typically 20-30 rounds in capacity) and the AR-15 is one of the most common guns used for hunting and sporting today.

Politically speaking there are Democrats, and left-leaning Independents that strongly pro-gun (as a matter of fact there is a HUGE discussion if Ultra-left-wing Harry Reid deserves an NRA endorsement because while his personal votes are always pro-gun, he does often play along with anti-gun party members) Furthermore Gun Rights was a soft-issue for most politicians on the right, they’d make a pro-gun speech and get their picture holding a shotgun or a bolt-action rifle in hunting garb and call it a day, and meanwhile there were many Republicans who were VERY anti-gun. These days there might be some Republicans who don’t like guns or liberty, but they keep their mouths shut…and most of the Anti-Gun Democrats are the same way. The center has shifted.

Now let’s have a look at Baldr and Joan’s own living room. Joan and Baldr are both open about being VERY “Liberal Democrats”. Now back in the day, Paul Helmke was President of the Brady Campaign, and he was a registered Republican (his stance on party issues is questionable….but certainly its not like Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Michael Bloomberg who registered as a Republican just so he could save money in the Primary race for Democrat dominated New York City) but Paul was terminated from the Brady Campaign.

Can you name ANY Republicans (even RINOs) or Right-leaning Independents that are active supporters of Gun control?

Seems there IS side of this argument that could easily be called “Extremist”.

Good For Them

When California bans carrying of handguns the only reasonable response is to start carrying long guns.

Fantastic and responsible video. I also like the dress code banning camo and clothing with violent sayings. You’re carrying a long gun, no need to rattle the saber…also you’re an armed civilian in a state that thinks that only retainers of the crown should carry weapons, so don’t go dressing like a cop or a soldier.

Also good on them for taking steps to document the Officer’s name and badge number when they do the “Mandatory” stop to verify that the weapon is unloaded. Dunno if it would get any traction in the courts but its certainly a violation of both the 2nd and the 4th Amendments (with a nice smattering of the 1st in there too).

California laws have forced all kinds of stupid behavior upon its residents from asking permission for a permit to exercise their rights, to the carrying of unloaded open handguns, now to the carrying of slung long-guns. This is THEIR doing, not ours. Its also THEIR doing that California is a crime-ridden shithole where you do in fact NEED a gun very often.

Remember the Constitution says Keep AND BEAR arms. Just owning a gun is NOT enough.

Lies of the Antis: Time Travel

Ok this right here is VERY impressive showing exactly how messed up the anti-rights people view the world. From Joan Peterson who works for the Joyce Foundation, as well as the Brady Campaign. For a little background, as I’m not going to copy the entire back-and-forth. Joan, among other things in her increasingly disjointed screeds, was speaking out against campus carry. The pro-rights people pointed out that there have been spree shooting events diffused by armed citizens like in Appalachian Law School, and Pearl High School. After a little argument framing Joan claims the guns didn’t help the situation and doubles-down with this:

Sure I can. They were not stopped before they happened. That is what you guys are always telling me you need your guns for on campuses. It didn’t work in these cases….We’ve gone over this ad nauseous. When you guys stop saying you need your guns to defend yourself and others in public then we can talk.

There it is. First for those not familiar with the cases, both incidents happened in “Gun Free Zones” and because of that the lawfully armed people had to retreat from the event and then RETURN with their firearm (Which BTW is still a violation of the rule, even if you’re grabbing a gun to stop a killer) so the Killer was unopposed for a length of time, and people were killed, but like most spree shootings, as soon as armed resistance arrives (be it in the form of Police, or a civilian with a firearm) the shooting is stopped…in both of these cases without a shot being fired by the lawfully armed citizen.

Now to Joan this shows the failure of civilian carry…well because she refuses to see civilian carry as ANYTHING BUT a failure. What she wants is what probably DOES happen all over the nation. Somebody thinks about killing some classmates or coworkers, and thinks twice about it because they don’t want to be shot. We’ll never hear about it in the news because Psychics aren’t real (tho it wouldn’t surprise me if Joan has had her palms read a time-or-two).

One must ask, how many spree shootings have there been in Utah since they legalized campus carry? How many spree shootings in the Universities that don’t restrict campus carry?

Now let’s look at the usual double-standard of the antis. The two big ones, Columbine, and Virginia tech. Both situations unarmed students were forced to hide and play dead as they were shot like fish in a barrel. Meanwhile outside the armed police planned their methods to diffuse the situation.

Dozens of people were shot and killed, and armed police were mere feet away. This is obviously a failure of armed Police, right?

You see we need to stop saying we need guns to protect ourselves, says this Board Member of the Brady Campaign, and Spokesperson for the Joyce Foundation. She is obviously mentally ill, there’s nothing more charitable I can say about somebody so bent in their world view.

Is this who we should listen to? Also note that she’s an employee of BOTH the major gun control groups in America, she could be dismissed at any time, but is not. You see those who support these various gun control groups see this as rational behavior.

Remember that, and be safe, and carry your guns!

Morning Biology, Thar She Blows!

How cool is that. I’ve seen gobs of Fin Whales in my travels, but never a Blue. Still the Fins are FUCKING HUGE. Also I’ve never been in such a situation where I could just dive in and paddle around.

Still I’d be nervous as they are so big and powerful I’d be worried I’d get hurt (or eaten, given that this guy was obviously feeding and their mouths are GIANT) purely by accident.

“Gun Death” Eating Contest

Some are just too bizarre for me to really segue into, so here it is.

A 77-year-old Ukrainian man won a jar full of sour cream for coming first in a dumpling eating contest and then promptly died, local media reported on Wednesday.

A jar of sour cream? Hardly seems worth it, does it. But again, not a gun so this bizarre death won’t count because he can’t push the agenda of the antis.

Today’s Discussion: Koch Brothers

As many of you know, I’m drawn to the “Progressive” blogs like a Moth to flame. I like to see what my opponents are talking about, and run down the validity of it. It helps my position and my convictions to be stronger, as well as it keeps me prepared for when some dull drone starts spouting twisted talking points, I can figure out what they’re trying to say, point out the truth, and watch them evaporate.

One thing I keep seeing OVER AND OVER again that just gets me scratching my head is the Left’s demonetization of the Koch Brothers. Really all I can see is some wealthy Libertarian/Fiscal Conservative-leaning entrepreneurs who use their money to form PACs and help out candidates that fit their world view.

Well of course the left hates PACs and Lobbies…unless its THEIR PACs and Lobbies, you don’t see them speaking out against the politicization of labor unions, or the self-serving nature of Public Sector Unions.

Really all I can smell is Leftists wanting the Right to have their own George Soros. (BTW check out this ironic juxtaposition of MoveOn.org protestors speaking out against the Koch Brothers)

Soros of course is a major political player for the “Progressives”, his big claim to fame is MoveOn.org, which is a huge “Progressive” astro-turf group, and also one of the big supporters of the Occupy Wall street protests, as well as the sibling protests.

Soros also, much like the Koch Brothers donates a LOT of money to PACs and Candidates.

Of course Soros’ origins would be comical if they weren’t true. A non-practicing Jew who collaborated with the Nazis to make himself wealthy off the blood of his people, turned Currency speculator who made fortunes off of DE-valuing the very money in people’s pockets.

I don’t use it lightly, but Soros is an evil man, and the “Progressives” know it. I suspect the Koch Brothers are just an attempt to project their own sins on those they hate…but what exactly have the Koch Brothers done that’s so bad?

Who knows anything about this issue? I find it VERY strange that I know so much about Soros, and people like Jack Abramoff, but really the only think I hear about them is from the “Progressive” blogs having their Emmanuel Goldstein moments.

What y’all got?
